LGA775 Core2Duo, Core2Quad OVERCLOCKING guide

harrynowl

So 3.7 GHz will be my target goal with the e5200/e5300 I have eh based on the guide.  I have an Xigmatek cooler still never used and will have to take the pc apart to install it as it requires a back plate.  Definitely going to be fun and on my list of things to do today but it seems I have been putting this off forever so who knows. LOL

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

Hi guys,

Got a GA-P945p-DS3 with a E6550 Core2Duo stock at 2.33GHz and 2 sticks of 1GB DDR2 667MHz.

Overclocked at 3.14 GHz with a CPUCoreV of 1.2V, try to push more the FSB and the voltage to 1.45v to get a higher frequency but got a crash immediately at boot.

DRAM frequency are set at standards but also overclocked??

Also got 50c in Load with the stock cooler.

So I know it's already a 35% overlock but maybe I lose something. :)

Any suggest??

When you increase your FSB to increase CPU clock speed you also gain DRAM frequency so you need to drop the frequency down to as close to stock as possible for stability.

I got an E4300 to 3.1Ghz on the stock cooler.

Mine had heaps of headroom, loved it at the time.

Nice, my E4500 was awful :P

Good luck, I had a play around with a E5200 at work the other day and it managed 3.4Ghz on some crappy ASRock 945 chipset board so you should be good :)

Ok Thanks man I would try do it manually cause in standard mode he also up the DRAM frequency.

the question is can one of these 25 E5200's beat either E6000?

So some fresh news wasn't able to go up of 3.13GHz with a 1.25v even by lower DRAM frequency it doesn't apply apparently but it's always stil a increase 35% of power with a lower voltage (1.35 normally)  and with the stock cooler so it's ok, next step my i7 4790K ;)

My motherboard should arrive soon. I really, really hope it does. It's been a week and a half since ordering it on ebay. Trust me, it's a sexy one.

Eric S. Raymond used an E6600 from 2005 until 12/30/14 or open source software creation. Raw data computations in excess of 18GB each. Core 2 Duos still have tons of life left, my friend.

I just found one of these online, would it be fine for overclocking my X5450? http://abit.ws/page/mi/motherboard/motherboard_detail.php@pMODEL_NAME=IX38+QuadGT&fMTYPE=LGA775&DEFTITLE=Y

I was just curious as it says it supports 45nm CPUs, and this in the last bios update (thank god I've got a Pentium 4 to update any LGA775 board)- (and I lready checked the compatibility guide, which is another reason for asking)

  1. Update CPU Micro code to support Intel QX9770 CPU.

X38/X48 and the 'business chipsets' (Q45 and so) were not compatible for the most part, don't believe it was a microcode issue as those can be added to a bios easily enough (I did that for my P5Q).

And Abits FTP section is gone as they went out of business :(

Damn, time to look for some standard 45nm quads then. So far its either the q6600, q8200, q9300, qx6700

If the 6700 is G0 get that otherwise 6600.

Ok, I can see the top of the CPU clearly so I'm using this: http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php/613909-How-to-find-a-CPU-Stepping%28SSpec%29

Its the B3 stepping. Bugger.
