Overclocking bench on the cheap (I will kill all the G3258s)

from a couple of weeks ago i decided that i wanted to build a bench just for overclocking, and because i´am a student it had to be cheap.
So unfortunately no extreme editions for me :(
but what i was able to get was all the Pentium power a man could possibly want. :)

most of the watercooling i had laying around from the phases my main rig has been through, all i had to get was block and fittings.
The case i bought of a mate for next to nothing.
so that was around 90$

the rest of the hardware was all bought brand spanking new.

Intel Pentium G3258
MSI Z97 GD-43
CX 430

Corsair Vengeance 8gb 1866mhz ram

Kingston 120gb V300 ssd now thing

i still miss a gfx card, so i can disable the integrated gpu, thinking something in the line of a gt 610 or what ever equivalent.
i also need more Pentium but the local dealer only had one left :( 

 

the one and only goal with this is to hit 5 ghz or above, i have cooling enough to pump 1,6v into the sweet little Pentium, so that should not be the problem :)

 

so now i guess you guys want to see some pictures.

bios update so close to finish, and luckily it did :D

 

i Know this is somewhat ghettoed but it work and temps are damn fine even at 1,6v it reaches the high 80´s,
i was damn unlucky in the silicon lottery on the first chip, i reached 4,4ghz at 1,56v so hoping for something better with the next chip.

i will keep you updated :)

I like it, I want to do something similar in a regular case and two random gpus (like 7770s) for the lols and overclocking.

Being only 14 it probably won't happen anytime soon though :( unless I can get some friends in on it to split the cost and use it as a backup rig/test bench/OC rig.

The oc is windows stable, i have had extremely bad luck in the silicon lottery :(

i use xspc EC6 coolant mixed with a bit of distilled water.

i will not test any gaming performance it is a pure clock hunter :)

How do you do it? I have a G3220 that I thought I'd try and fry but everything is locked. Isn't yours locked as well?

the g3258 is not locked yours are, so therefore you can overclock as well.

the g3258 is not locked yours are, so therefore you can overclock as well.

 

How can I overclock mine? I looked at pretty much everything. Not even any options for overclocking.

The only oc you got is base clock oc but i do not recommend that. because the returns are minimal.
