Carpet

Then most of the dust in your room is probably from the carpet. I recently moved to a new appartment, old one was carpet, new one has wooden floors, makes a huge difference. Almost no dust at all now.

Doesn't make a difference in the rest of the house. The living room, den and kitchen are all hardwood and it still gets very dusty due to our dogs. That being said it's been running for about an hour now and there's enough dust on it that I can see it on my hand if I wipe the filter off. Like I said it's quite effective, I took a two flashlights and put one in front of the filter and one behind it. Dust was pulled towards the filter and none came out the other side.

My computer already does this. I have 3*120mm fans pulling air through a carbon filter in the front and side of my PC, and 1 120mm fan pulling air though SilverStone filter on bottom

Well now I have this in addition to my PC, which is also filtered.
