NEED GTX 980 NOW!

CostcoSamples

GTX 980 will be huge disappointment, 600 dollar price got confirmed.

Better to just get 2 x R9 290's for same price + 50% performance or a R9 295X at 65% higher price but +/- double performance + watercooled.

AMD easy win.

+ within 2 months R9 390x will come out which will be a waaaay bigger improvement versus the R9 290x than the GTX 980 is compared to the GTX 780.

I'm thinking the best time to upgrade will actually be around December/January, after all the new stuff is released and all the old 700 series and r9 200 series is cleared out.  then we'll see prices coming down on the new stuff.  Wait and see is the name of the game...

Why? i doubt you are doing anything professional when the only vote options are

1. I am super excited!

2. I am exploding with excitement!

3. I have crapped my pants waiting at the internets for more rumors!

4.  GPUs are dumb. I hate new stuff. I don't like Christmas presents either.

You are forcing everyone to say "Yes im a fanboy who dont have much rational thinking" Or "No i Hate Everyhing that have anything with new in it"

The votes Shold go on a scale more like

1.  Yes The new 980 will be Dope

2. Yes, I look forwards to it,

3. Meh, i dont really care since new things Will come anyways.

4. No, i dont really look forwards to it since im going to choose AMD.

5. No, I dont want new GTX cards.

Since you clearly hate light hearted jokes I would suggest you go with option 4 on the original poll.

Where is the price confirmed? I have seen rumors but nothing else.

Mainly because I say so.

Secondly because Nvidia communicated that price to stores.

Am I the only one who feels like this is the slowest week EVER?  HURRY UP AND BE FRIDAY ALREADY!

I am waiting for them to drop down to the 20nm manufacturing process for real performance and power consumption improvements,

If only intel bough them than they would be on 14nm

Please follow your topics guys, it's very important! CoC F.A.Q  Please use the corresponding PC part picker link for your country USA, UK, Canada, AustraliaSpain, Italy, New Zealand and Germany

I missed the box that said "The GTX 980 is just Nvidia modifying a midrange card enough to justify selling it as a high end card to fanboys and people who don't know any better, so I'll pass, and wait for something that offers a decent performance increase over existing cards"

+1 I'm also kinda disappointed, it won't be a bad card, but they could have done much better, certainly considering it's pricetag.

I've got a GTX 780. I don't need a new GPU.

I've got a 570, I will more than likely upgrade to a 980. Is it going to be earth shattering? No. Is it an improvement? I would say yes.

I will still be holding out for the aftermarket coolers though. :)

When I saw the estimated price for the GTX 980, in early burst out crying because it was surprisingly less than what I thought. (I was in class at college at the time, so it would have looked a little weird) :D

I'm not excited because I still can't buy one even if it gets released.

The vast majority of people buy a mid range card so don't feel left out.

nvidia is going to make the same mistake they did with 680. A slightly lower powered and silently more efficient GPU as the cost of whats most important ... "PERFORMANCE". Then they will make another mistake by releasing a full power Ti and Titan versions after they mopped up peoples money with the 980.

Nope. The 680 was how it was because it was to compete with the best that AMD had, the 7970. Not blow it out of the water completely and win the gpu market.

Honestly, Nvidia is probably pulling this ~10% performance improvement move because they know AMD is stuck right now with their architecture.

Gtx 980 + aftermarket cooler will likely be 650-700 dollar -> 50% more for R9 295X and get 100% more performance.

Not really how it works. The 680 lost the performance crow because it was crippled to much. There is however no indication that AMD is as you claim "stuck right now with their architecture"

To be honest, I can't wait for the 9xx series.

Why, you ask?

Because, hopefully, 7xx prices will drop and getting an SLI for my 7xx will be cheaper ;D
