Time Warner Cable just had a nationwide service outage

TopWargamer

I still was on at 5. I went to lay in bed and watch youtube on my ipod. I was on at the time that it would have been down.

I wasn't down. Period.

k don't have to be so offended about it. Cause really we don't care. It's not your fault if your Internet goes down, get all up in arms about it. It's confirmed that pretty much everything time warner was down last night. You may have been some lucky kid that managed to stay online. In the end we don't care, we know what happened. Whether you knew it happened or not. I just wanted to figure out when it went down and you confirmed that by the time I got home a at 5:20 to 5:30 ish or went down until 7am. Believe what you want, it went down. Period. No question about it.

Yea I was down from 4:30-6:30am central for me roughly. It was a odd outage since the modem and router still had a wan connection which is something I've never had before.

I don't think that's right. But in any case I've asked a few friends who live nearby. We weren't down. I was studying/taking a final and then watching Youtube. Not a question.

That is right, and you were down. It wasn't a complete connectivity issue. You could still ping (not google, but most sites I tried worked) and modems were still online and had service, you just couldn't get to most places you wanted to get to. You were affected if you were on Time Warner's connection (hint, most smaller ISP's use TWC or another larger provider, so this impacted a LOT of people as I do not work for TWC but it affected all of my customers as well.

This was a nationwide service interruption. Whether you noticed it or not, it did in fact go down.

I'd like to complain about my ISP, sudden link, but I have yet to see them go down. My download and upload speed is at 110%. I speak to English speaking people that aren't from India. The only think I'm complaining about is how much I pay and my cap of 250gb. So gg sudden link I still hate you but I like you.

That was weird. It seemed like a DNS issue at first but I've heard multiple people that know way more about networking that I do mention it could have been the same thing that happened in Syria when they implemented a kill switch.

With those data caps, are you limited to 250gb in total or is that just download caps? Like, if you download 200 gb and upload 50 gb is your limit met?

Yes I know it isn't my fault. Which is why I have no problem saying that I wasn't down.

I get 16 mb down and 1.6mb up. The data cap is downloads only from what I can tell and yes it's 250gb. But as of today I've yet to really even come close to that. Maybe 120gb in a month.

Ok. I'm done arguing with you. It's obvious to me that you wouldn't know if you were down or not since you don't even understand what system up-time is. Have fun with your magical internet connection.

I'd be hurting. My usage regularly tops 600gb down and upload is around 70-120gb. I really hope data caps don't become a thing.

Precisely why I don't like them.

It's probably due to old switches and routes that have a connection limit. It happened on another network the other week they talked about in on the Tek.

Cute. Come back when you know more about computers and networking.

I know plenty about both :P

Things are saying that it started at 4:30am, which if it means 4:30am I know for a fact I was on. If it is saying 4:30am pacific then I would not have been on.

That's why it's so interesting. It happened on Cox or something right? Same scenario pretty much right? I heard one of the guys here talking about it being a killswitch install and then it happens to TWC a week or two later. Seems fishy.

For me that central time. According to irc I drobbed and came back 2-3 time before that already but that's when it went out.

Between 6am and 8:30ish am is when we were affected. Eastern time.

If all the reports are going off of central time then I'm not sure if I would have been on. If it was eastern I was ABSOLUTELY on. Was either mountain or pacific I don't think I was on.

That's probably all it is.

If it's starting at 6am then it is distinctly possible I had just gotten off. A lot of things were saying 4:00-4:30am, thats why I was like "wait wat... I was on."

Not a clue you'd have to ask the people that reported that.

Idk I was about to work on getting drivers for my laptop I just clean installed and it was a huge bummer.
