the internet is big enough, that is breaking routers

i'm going to assume this is one of the problem that could be easily fixed by upgrading fully to IPv6, but i'm assuming this problem has more depth to it, anyways these guys made an analysis that old hardware is having problem.

The core of the problem is the routing table, a map of all the paths through the web that routers use to direct traffic.

its getting big enough that its reaching the breaking point of 512K routes, that cause memory overflow to these routers, in laymans term, old hardware is going to "crash", sort of, there's going to be interrupted services and "sporadic, distributed instability,", its kinda like the year 2000 bug back in the day, its also well know issue by now so the system that are still on old hardware need to be upgrade, otherwise, they aren't going to be usable, this is obviously all on servers, so no, your router isn't going to catch fire and explode because there's a lot of websites and networks around

just heard it on The Tek. It's scary because that interent throttleing arguments from the ISPs are starting to make sense. :(

Except they're holding Netflix responsible and asking for money from them that ISN'T going to any form of customer support.

It's the ISPs fault. They're milking as hard enough. Time to use that money for some extra infrastructure. :D

who cares...

They have the money to upgrade. The fact this is happening is inexcusable.

Yay for companies taking money and just pocketing it! How do government lawyers not work in a "we are going to make sure you use this money for it's intended purposes" clause into the contract for receiving government funding to upgrade shit?

Why are we paying for these companies to upgrade through tax money, when we already pay to use the service? If we gave them tax money, then it qualifies as a public utility, MAKE THEM UPGRADE DAMNIT

Oh, how could you possibly upgrade to IPv6 and take off the protection of the internet pirates with using a unique IP address!?

I'd love to see that. Most of the criminals illegally downloading stuff should be hunted down and pay for music, videos, games and whatever...

This is about making the internet a more open and expansive network to influence creativity and innovation. Not your moral compass.

Nice excuse.

I wasn't making an excuse. this isn't a discussion on piracy and attempting to interject flamebait like that into a subject where it isn't relevant is a dick move.
