I possibly have the worst specs on the forum.

MattTheMayor

I had an HP laptop in 09 and it lasted pretty good. Until everything started breaking down gradually at mid-2012. Audio, Trackpad, Webcam, Mic. Tried to get it fixed at the factory and they said "water was leaking when they were opening it" when I clearly took good care of it.

From that, I hated HP.. and I was computer-less. Black Friday was around and I needed a laptop. Just to let you know, I would've built a PC by that time, but I didn't know about that nor did I know what to do. Best-Buy had a laptop going for $250 so I decided to get it. Laptop starts getting hots even through the simplest things. Out of the blue, I started learning all the technical side more and more and I noticed I was stupid enough to get this laptop. Well you get what you pay for right?

Some might say that it wasn't that bad because I didn't know, but boy was it bad. Even with web-browsing this laptop gets hot. It sometimes overheats and crashes in Minecraft. I didn't know what I was thinking when I was buying this.

Good thing I'm about to build a beast that will devour this poor little laptop like it's a potato chip.

Their cheapo computers are still some of the worst. And having Harman Kardon Skull Candy does help.

But I will give them another 2 years to redeem themselfs before I look at their products with purchasing in mind.

OP, does it run what you need it to? That's really all that matters.

I would personally go with Windows 8 you can get it for cheap here you would need to get an ISO on a usb to install it but it's worth the money you save https://www.g2a.com/windows-8-professional-32-64-bit-cd-key-global.html

They just don't look that nice. Not that groundbreaking.

I have never owned one of those $250-$450 laptops, but have used them, and the Toshibas (Owned by) are old people who like the "Big Keys" and people who buy it because of it's price.

And I don't care about who brands what audio. Because Sony and Samsung usually have good audio anyways. (I usually go for those two)

I bought a laptop like 5 years ago for $320 I think it was, one of the best purchases I ever made. It was an Acer Aspire 5532, I upgraded the cpu to a dual core AMD turion 2GHz for like $5 on Ebay and that thing is still running strong. It has a really nice looking display and never gave me any issues (after I upgraded the cpu, the original was crap). So not all cheap laptops are crap, just most of them. :)

Good build, but I would suggest going with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, adding a second fan, instead of the Noctua. The 212 EVO will be way more than enough to cool your CPU, but costs half as much as the Noctua. Either bank the savings or put the exter $30 towards a slightly better SSD.
