yah I would have rather seen quad titan black. But oh well 2000$ extra is nothing right?

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

I never knew 3D graphics designers made so much that they would just throw $30,000 out the door...

Glad the build log is up. @meikat don't beat yourself up too much re the coolers, no one who read or participated in the planning build caught it either. I've taken twenty lashes with a wet noodle. :)

 

Is there a cable tray along the backside of the desk?

Sort of... there's a rather large back compartment for the powersupplies, 8 fans, and cables and stuff, but I plan on putting 2x quad radiators in there, so it's going to fill up quickly.  Planning the loop is gonna be fuuuuuuun.

The basic cross desk is available for $2000 ish from multiple retailers.  I do not know how much he paid, but I do know he got it via their crowdfunding drive before they started mass producing them.

 

I can't say enough good things about that desk.  It's worth every penny.  There's no way anyone with normal tools and equipment could ever make ANYTHING as nice to look at and work with. I've seen a lot of people custom build similar desks, but when you get up close you see the difference.

Not really.  If you're mainly gaming, you made a wise decision.  It'll be a few more years before game devs start utilizing 8 or more cores, so that's still a wise decision.  He just wanted all the cores he could possibly throw at his professional applications without getting TOO absurd.
