Radeon HD 78xx series owners club.

G.Freeman

Just a club I would like to start just for AMD 78xx owners and enthusiasts. In this thread we can post about our performance, OCing, heat, cooling solutions, game benchmarks and real time performance, screen shots, melt downs, funny things, rig picts, etc .

Here's my not so sexy beast LOL I love the performance and value it represents. It's a Gigabyte HD 7850 900Mhz "$150" from the NCIX Richmond, BC warehouse

What's that CPU cooler, & why do you have it installed like that ?

CM Hyper 212+, there is no right way to orientate a CPU cooler but to me it looks more anatomically correct if the text is in the horizontal plus warm air rises so why fight it. Also rear case fan is an air intake and the 140mm top mount is an exhaust so it creates a wind tunnel effect when I turn the fans on high but I never needed to yet.

Stock clocks for my card are 1050 core 1250 mem. Also keep in mind that Sapphire cooling solutiong is pretty good with dual fans.

I know that there is no specific "correct" way so to speak  to orient a CPU cooler, just wanted to know what sort of air flow dynamic you have in your case.

It's pretty stagnant to tell you the truth but the temps are well within spec and the GPU runs ultra cool. I like silence over cooler temps.

I have 2 7870 from sapphire withe their dual fan cooler, 1 is the vanilla 7870(1000mhz core, 1200mhz ram), and the other is an OC version from sapphire (1050mhz core, 1250mhz ram).

I haven't overclocked them, i'm getting pretty good fps so I don't have the need for MOAR powah.

Got an HD 7850 2GB from powercolor running 1050/1450 staying under 65*C in crisis 3.  @ Freeman, that is a strange way to mount the cooler.  How are your temps?

Temps are awesomeness I actually haven't checked the CPU temps in well over a year LOL. CM Hyper 212+ is just on idle 800rpm forced via the bios.

This is where I can post my 7870's new triple slot cooler? :P

Can you believe it didn't help the temps at all?

There is too much airflow escaping through the sides, and the center of the fan is too big and air doesn't go out from there xD

I have got the Gigabyte 7850 overclocked 2GB version. Core/Mem 975/1200. I see NO performance increase in games when i overclock further. Is this a sign of a CPU bottleneck?

We need your rig specs specifically your CPU. That's a good GPU you have there. My Gigabyte HD 7850 1GB core.Men 900/1200 is the same in that I to see NO performance increase in game when I overclock it further. I will probably buy a 2GB Gigabyte HD 7850 in the future so I can benchmark it against my 1GB Gigabyte HD 7850 ans see how the Vram effects performance in a vast amount of games and I will post the results.
