What is the cheapest PC hardware that you've bought?

Apart from that what is the one thing that you bought that was rather cheap/midrange but have served you or lasted longest till now , as in high grade equipment longevity.

A jack cable for 50 euro cents. The second question is probably my nokia 5800, it's going to take much better than the current offerings to convince me to replace it.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

I got an entire PC for £1, 500GB hard drive, GeForce 9500GT, Athlon 3800+ and 4GB DDR2 because my friend was throwing it out. I just installed Linux on it and used it as a backup machine. Still got it, took out the GPU and put a 3TB WD red in there and now I use it as a NAS.

I own some games... not many, but they have taken my life.

CPU: AMD A10 6790k GPU: GTX 750 Ti SC (+600 / +135) RAM: 4GB Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz PSU: Corsair CX 430W HDD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda & 60GB Kingston SSD Case: Fractal Design Core 1000 Etc?: Laptop HDD for downloads folder :P

25 DVI-D cables that I found at the local scrapyard (in mostly original packaging). I still have about 19 of them, and one of them has been in use for a good while now.

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.

In all seriousness, My 1100t which I got for free. TL:DR below...

The guy I got it from bought a new water cooler. For some reason, before putting new TIM on it, he had it out of the socket. He dropped it and bent a few pins. While attempting to straighten the pins he broke one off. In a panic, and without doing much research, he rushed out to Microcenter to get another chip to fit in his board (the board I have now :D ). He got an FX 9590 not knowing about it's crazy VRM requirements.

After getting the chip home he learned that he needed a new board. Instead of going back and getting an 8350 he got a Formula Z. So he's already out of some serious cash. I told him how he could attempt to fix the old chip and get his money back but he didn't want to try it. (He would rarely take my advice.)

I was looking to upgrade and was on a tight budget. He offered me his old board, which was still perfectly good, for $50. He basically threw the "dead" 1100t in there for nothing insisting that I'd never get it to work.

Once I got the stuff, I took an old 939 chip I had lying around and baked it in the oven at 450 for about 10 minutes to loosen the solder and knock some of the pins out. I then took one of the pins, and with a magnifying glass and some tweezers put a pin in the corresponding hole where the pin was missing. Booted right up and has been rock stable ever since.

He takes my advice more seriously now. :P

Man I love SSD's

When this one dies I want an Intel 7 series

I say this because, I had a very bad Gypsie attack...they stole my wife, plow... and they touch my horse in a very bad way... he got very depressed.
