After I had to quit my previous job, I've been struggling to find employment. As a university student, I need money, especially considering that I'm going to PAX Melbourne this year (which you should all totally come to, provided you can realistically make it) 

But GOD DAMN, why won't anyone employ me? All the open jobs have all these bull shit requirements... how am I meant to gain 3 years experience if no one will bloody employ me????????????? 

 

GOD DAMN IT. 3 in the morning + endless job applications make one very, very bitter.

If youre not socially retarded, or a complete idiot then you will find that a lot of places are willing to overlook your lack of experience as long as youre applying for a role that is suited to your knowledge and education.

I am 23, 24 next month,am a fully trained soldier, i also did some non profit gardening for over a year when i was 17, made fences and laid huge flag stones, also did some barking (bark chips)

 

I am now unemployed looking for a job.

To an employer, experience in anything is a good thing, think of it as a trait creator, team work, leadership, punctual, hard working, an acheiver.

 

When you go for a job, an application will require referee's from previous employment or work experience.

 

Build this up, and you will be 50% there, grades only get you so far.

I do know how to do some things, since i work occasionally in my parent's company (but I don't want to work there full-time), and I have done everything from website management to making magazine adverts, even worked in the warehouse, etc...

Feirce competition in your chosen job and in your area can be the problem too, just keep going at it.

Thank god you're on the Geek Squad. Most of the ones where I am are morons. Personally, I would be better on the floor trying to help people choose a laptop, monitor, tablet, or desktop, since I know that stuff the best.
