The better solution is to:

1. learn that its often better to swerve than just close your eyes and slam on the breaks.

2. Go back in time, kill hitler AND stalin.

3. Pass a law giving cars the right of way over pedestrians and bicycle's (the law might say they have the right of way, but guess who wins in a collision, not to mention if your on foot how hard is it to see a f**kin car coming?)

Quite hard actually. Especially when a d-bag who own a big van decide to park right on a street corner, meaning we, the pedestrian, cannot see the road on the side, we need to move behind the van and "peek" behind it to make sure if there's a car coming. My own mother got hit by a car, while she was on the SIDEWALK, because an idiot decided to back up and not look where he was driving backward to, yet claim "she was in my dead angle", but it's impossible with that type of car, it's only possibly if he didn't even bother turning his head or look in the mirror.

And the reverse can also be said, how come drivers don't see the pedestrians? You're supposed to be looking at the road while driving, to be alert, yet bikers and pedestrians still get hit even though you should've seen them coming quite a fair bit away. If you can't even figure that you should slow down instead of mow down, maybe you shouldn't be allowed to drive.

The entire commercial was ruined for me by generalizations as it depends on the brakes themselves ect as some have way better stop power than trying to stop your car with cheese, Plus if you have more mass to haul around, it's going to take longer to stop that mass.

 

And the reverse can also be said, how come drivers don't see the pedestrians? You're supposed to be looking at the road while driving, to be alert, yet bikers and pedestrians still get hit even though you should've seen them coming quite a fair bit away. If you can't even figure that you should slow down instead of mow down, maybe you shouldn't be allowed to drive.

 

Some pedestrians are also kinda dumb and will sprint in front of traffic, especially if they believe they can beat the crosswalk from changing red or if they believe they can make it before that next car comes. Then we have bikes they think just because they are more narrow, they can squeeze through traffic and this can lead to an accident pretty fast. It's irresponsibility on /both/ ends that leads to accidents.

I admit that I see stupidity everyday from pedestrian, like crossing on red light and what not. I wish they would make you redo a driving exam every couple of years, especially if you lost any points from an infractions.

As someone who has nearly been hit from a driver, I agree with that last statement. I've been in cars and seen pedestrians being reckless just as I've seen drivers who appear to be driving without a license. When you combine the two, oh boy.

I used to deliver pizza in the inner city, can't count the number of times I had to swerve to avoid some moron on foot or on a bike. I feel pedestrians are usually the ones at fault, they can hear the car coming (unless its a murderous hybrid) not to mention that they have more of an ability to see what is coming,the person in a car doesn't know what a pedestrian is going to do, but its pretty obvious where the car is going to be, assuming something hasn't gone horribly wrong
