Considering that 1440p monitors are just starting to hit that price point, 4k monitors probably wont be that cheap for a while. However, if 4k monitors get that low and are still high quality soon, I am surely picking one up as soon as i can.

Thats a good question. The coupon thing would make the most sense for Samsung to make the monitors and still make some money.

Maybe Intel is just working with Samsung to make it cheaper to produce the monitors.

Something seems fishy...

I guess we'll find out if its legit at 11:30PT

If you can buy a 4k monitor for $800 i bet you can get a 4k monitor for $400 in the next year.

That's why I don't know if I should spend the money on a 1440p monitor... maybe I should stay at 1080p for awhile.

If you can buy a 4k monitor for $800 i bet you can get a 4k monitor for $400 in the next year.

But you're comparing an $800 24" Multi-Stream 1st gen 4K IPS panel to a Single-Stream PLS.

That's one heck of an upgrade for half the price. Or looking at it this way, it's $350 cheaper than the 28" TN from Samsung...

but 24" is way too small for a 4k monitor...

24inch 4K is not way to small. Look at a Surface Pro, The PPI is about the same.

I wear glasses and I have no problem using my Surface Pro at 100% DPI all the time.

As for the 400$ 4K. Intel is not making the monitor. This is their (with Samsung) prediction of the cost of 4K monitors based on current market pricing, and the drop in price it had and is having. That is all. And what isn't clear, is... is that the 400$ the panel itself, or 400$ the entire monitor.

4K 60hz pls monitor for $400? There has to be a catch somewhere. And 4GHz on all cores? Impressive I must say.

well it does say half the price of a current ips or pls monitor doubt manufactures are paying anywhere near $400 a panel today.

It actually isn't. Not everybody has the money for dual 780ti or a 295x2, so you can buy the 4k 24" monitor and run it at 1080p or 1440p with no pixel stretching and at an acceptable pixel density with your current graphics card, and then when you can actually buy an affordable 4k capable graphics card you can run the screen at 4k without having to buy a new one.

Well, will the 1440p monitor give you what you want? We don't even have stat sheets on these supposed cheapo screens and they do sound like screens for AIOs. Which would be rad if I could get one of those MSI Gaming AIOs with a 4K screen for the office.
