Why? A GTX 660 isn't as bad as you think.

A 660 is ok, but a bit more power never hurt right? I'd drop the extra fan and goes for a 660Ti or try to cram in a 770 somehow. But if it's below the 770 I'd switch to AMD side

Why does it say  'x2' at the end? Are they 2 graphics cards in SLI?

Agreed.

@ForsakenLive

Yes it does, go with a single GTX 770. SLI performance varies between games and you have higher heat output, power consumption, and noise with dual cards. A single higher-end card is a preferable GPU solution.

No, i know, i have a 660Ti on my rig, but i would prefer gaming with 60FPS+ on Modern titles such as Tomb Raider Maxed, and be able to hit higher Resolutions than 1080p with out having it struggle, i mean 30~40FPS is very playable, very satisfying, but 70~100FPS, is even better, that's why i'm planing a new 760 Gaming SLI Build

I have almost the same system but have a 7870 and a 990fx motherboard. You can play new games on high at 60fps. Also I don't know how the Tempest 210 is different from the source 210 but it isn't great working in.

CPU-- AMD FX-8320 (Stock), Motherboard-- ASUS M5A99FX PRO R 2.0, RAM-- Team 8gb 1600Mhz, GPU-- Sapphire 7870 GHz with OC Edition, Case-- NZXT Tempest 210, PSU-- Corsair CX600m, HDD, 1tb Seagate & 2tb WD External, Monitor-- Dell S2240M IPS Display, Keyboard/Mouse-- Some Logitech keyboard and some Dell mouse, Speakers-- Logitech Z533

Oh yeah, I didnt notice that. So if he want to run SLI 660... No, you shouldnt do that. Just change it to a single 770, or a R9 290, always goes for a single powerful card compare to SLI/Crossfire less powerful card.

count me in with this idea, cut down on a few other stuff and Get a 760, 770, 660Ti power edition...

I don't know if you missed "budget" in the title... on what planet is an R9 290 a budget option?

6.5/10. For gaming, a 660 won't be that good, and it doesn't make sense to run it in SLI if you can get something else, maybe a 770 or a 290 (if you can find one like this or better yet this one is a killer deal both cost about the same as two 660s) for the same price.

The only complaint I have with it is the 660 sli: just get an r9 290. Best bang for the buck at that price, simply unbeatable.

if you get the r9, this is a solid 8/10

If we're all tripping and you just want a single 660, then yes, one 660 makes much more sense and still means an 8/10 for the budget.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

no not lowest, i Maxed Tomb Raider with around 30~32FPS average at 1080p, created a custom Res of 2560x1600 and ran it again and it dropped to around 20~22FPS with the Card OCed to 1170Ghz on the core and 1600Ghz on the Mem max Clock, 80% Voltage, and ass i said it will only struggle with Modern titles MAXED at higher Res than 1080p

Well cause I see the x2 so I though you do 2 ways SLI 660~ if not then my previous post stand, a 660Ti is better, or at that price point change to AMD side

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't get the 660 either unless it was really cheap. In that price point I'd probably get a R9 270. But suggesting a £300 gpu and the second most expensive single GPU card that AMD offer when the guy specifically says budget is... no.

A single GTX 580 (which is pretty much the same as a 660 Ti) gives 35 - 40 fps in Tomb Raider with everything maxed (including Tress FX) at 1080p. Another one in SLI gives you over 60 constantly but with occasional dips.

yes for 1080p the 660 will provide acceptable framerates on medium/high settings...nice build you put togheter, if you could unlock some more money to get an r9 280 or r9 280x that would be even better, but it is still pretty nice as it is you should not be disapointed as long as you don,t want Ultra settings and 60FPS.

In fact if you are very short on cash you could downgrade the CPU to the 6300 (wich hurts i know...) to allow you for a better GPU, the R9 280 for example (HD7950 rebadged) is a 3GB graphics card that perform on the same level as the GTX 760...
