Looking for name brand mp3 player

Hi everyone not sure if this is the right sub forum for this but it’s the closest I can find

I am looking for a name brand mp3 & mp4 player (iPod does not fit my needs)

sound quality doesn’t really matter that Much just needs to play mp3s and audiobooks (i can just convert them to mp3s) have good battery life and tactile buttons and use micro sd for storage expansion

most of the ones I have found online are just no name e waste

doesn’t need to be expensive and boujee just needs to work and be decent quality

I know it's not a name brand. But I know these brands. They specialize in MP3 pretty great quality. It just works if you know what I mean

May I ask why? The only thing on here I see that an iPod wouldn't do is the SD card expansion, and that can be added for relatively cheap with a flash mod.

Hate the ui also the drm and stuff (I know there are workarounds but also iTunes isn’t available on my OS

With that second one is there anyway to remove the kosher restrictions because the hardware looks perfect

Having photo and video would be good (even if I don’t use them I like to have the full feature set)

These restrictions are not removable.

(It's usually not a restriction but the OS is built "kosher" from the ground up)

the zune is more a meme option although im sure its actually viable... idk if you can drag n drop, but tbh i think you can, remember Microsoft actually invented this...

But yes, those Sonys are really solid, good sound,  good build quality, not too expensive...

I've got a question for you (OP), while you are in class are you having a laptop with you and if so does said laptop have Bluetooth or headphones out?    If so, why not just use Bluetooth headphones using the laptop as the source?

Additional thoughts on my part, I wonder if you are not better off buying something mare basic and simple?    My concern would be is if people start showing up with Android based players (i.e.  almost phones w/out SIM?) but with WIFI, people will use them for the same sort of distraction causing things that likely got phones banned to start with?

Something simple clip or whatever would seem less likely to run afoul of additional rules that may come into effect in future?   Is this phone prohibition a new development?

They have removed any ability to play audio on the laptops (people started blasting random shit in class) but because of the spyware and restrictions it’s not just speaker audio, the aux and Bluetooth are disabled

also no audio over usb because of the previous restriction but also usb ports are disabled

and to answer your question about android flac players you are not allowed to have a smart device (a very broad definition but I am fairly sure they mean it can’t be any sort of android or iOS based device. Also the phone Regualtion is not new just now we can’t play music and stuff off the Chromebooks

Really sounds like you should go on eBay and get a SanDisk Sansa Clip mp3 player. My brother and I had one and they're pretty good.

Although I think you should just get an iPod Classic 5th gen. It's the easiest generation for at-home battery replacement, and the obvious benefit is that it has a fast, intuitive interface. Obvious downside no expandable storage and I guess iTunes (I never understood the iTunes hate).

iPod and iTunes is not a thing I can do (it’s not on my OS) I could try and put custom firmware on it but that seems like a hassle

I have seen the Clip recommended a lot so I will probably end up buying one

None of those are ones I can use but thank you for your consideration!

Only other MP3 player I have is a cheap Coby MP828 -16G (that's the model # on the back)... clunky touchscreen, takes a microSD card, USB port same as digital camera uses (Mini USB)... circa 2013 era. It does the job

Why does it need to be brand name? If you just need something to play music in class, get the cheapest mp3 player from aliexpress, they tend to have the least restrictions software wise and will play whatever file is loaded over usb or on a sd card.
