storing RTX 3080 Aorus Xtreme in non original box

Hi guys.

I've been keeping this huge card in the box of my Zotac Amp Extreme 2080 Super Box, the way you see on pics, and box on perfectly flat surface, under my bed.

But I got some paranoia that this huge cooler is pushing and bending the PCB, so maybe I should turn the card upside down in the box?

As you can see on pics, the card perfectly fits no pressing/touching on foam.

Why am I keeping it, don't ask please.

weight of the cooler is split across the pcb

(and couldn't you just flip the box ?)

Do I need to?
It was in this position for months.

Rofl, no.  The cooler isn't weight enough to bend a PCB, and they have cross supports between them.

 

It's a non issue, a plastic cooler and fans is lightweight anyway.

 

He mentioned turning it over to help with YOUR PARANOIA, not to help with the card.  The issue is 100% in your head.

Don't think at all this cooler is lightweight, this is a 4 slot card.

Comparatively to it being enough to bend a PCB while just laying there it is.

Just to make it a bit more visual, see this: 

The cooler is not just laying on the PCB, it is screwed to the backplate and the PCB is sandwiched between them. The pressure on the PCB is defined by the tightness of these screws rather than the physical orientation of the thing - it won't lift off from the PCB if you turn it upside down and it won't smash into PCB if you put it fans-up. The only place the pressure is exerted are the screw ports smooshed between the cooler and the backplate/retention plate and since those seem to be positioned throughout the PCB there won't be any stress points and the pressure would be evenly spread.

 

Long story short - you are perfectly fine.
