I used to use Amazon Music a lot, but then they stopped letting non-Premium members pick individual songs to play. Now the only music subscription service I use is SiriusXM.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

im actually considering switching from spot to another service (not because of this update), because they keep locking stuff behind a paywall and premium is becoming too expensive to consider. im considering sound cloud but are there any other good services out there (for free if possible)

Soundcloud is great, but for covers and stuff. There are obscure musicians and their stuff at large down there, though for a constant streaming of music, you could also try Deezer. It's paid though.

i dont think this is gonna affect all that many people and you can look up the lyrics online. i guess it messes up someone's karaoke but it's not that big a deal imo

Typical feature that can be monetized easily because most people don't care a single bit about it so won't be frustrated of losing it, but those who do care about it so much they're likely to be willing to pay.

Although streaming music services still don't pay artists nearly what they deserve, making certain features Premium is entirely within their rights. The fact that Spotify still offers a Free tier at all is quite surprising, considering their cost to do so. IMO it's reasonable to put certain features like song lyrics behind a Premium paywall as a way of enticing Free users to subscribe.

soundcloud is actually great... but i only stumble on it at random for some reason... im not even sure how to use it properly... i think what people who do spotify look for is automatic playback of songs they probably like or have specified... can soundcloud do that?
