Issues with gaming pc

Cwota

Hey, I've been having issues with my gaming PC for a while now and I'm wondering if you have any tips on what the problem might be.

Specifications:

Monitor: ASUS 240Hz 2560x1440p

Motherboard: MSI MAG Tomahawk B550

Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X

Graphics Card: Palit GameRock 3090Ti

RAM: G.Skill Trident 3600Hz 16GB Water cooling

The Problem:

The performance worsens when a lot is happening simultaneously. This occurs, for example, in Overwatch during team fights, and I also have the same issue in games like the finals, etc. I've also been monitoring the FPS, which doesn't have any drastic drops, but still feels much lower than it actually is. This means the game is smooth when there are no team fights and not much activity in the game.

Things I've tried to solve the problem:

  • Changed the processor and RAM
  • Tested with a different monitor
  • Changed cooling
  • Checked temperatures, which don't seem to be an issue
  • Tried different settings without improvement, and performance doesn't get better with lower settings
  • Also tried changing the resolution without seeing any improvement
  • Tested the PC with benchmarks without receiving any error messages
  • Tested without G-Sync, without improvement
  • XMP is enabled in BIOS

I'm a bit stuck on what this could be, and I appreciate any tips :)

few things to add to your list,

chipset drivers?

latest drivers?

does capping framerate/vsync fix it magically?

Im using the ultimate performance power plan and got a Corsair RM1000x as power supply.

I have also installed all the new drivers and capping the fps 3 under the refresh rate does not help sadly. I have tried to play with vsync on/off but the issue still persists 🙂

What do you mean by a lot?

Like going from 400fps to 200fps in ow or like going from 300fps to 40fps? Because the first is basically a to be expected thing to happen. The second yeah there is something wrong then.

The only problem is that I have looked at the fps which doesn’t seem to drop a lot but the game feels like it’s 60fps in team fights. I have also selected the right refresh rate

That that’s right 2x8 kit and water cooling with artic III 360mm aio. If you think it can be the 1% lows. Where can I check for that? I have used ddu to install the newest driver too with no change

I have done some testing in ow checking both frametime, 1% lows and 0,1% lows.

Framtime went between 3-5 ms throughout the match.

1% lows was fluctuating between 200 and 130. Lowest I saw was 120

0,1% lows was fluctuating between 170 to 100

This was only in team fights

So you might be right about this. The next question I have is how do I figure out what is causing this?

Thanks for the help 🙂

Can also record some ingame if thats better

When you play.... what all are you running?  What apps or processes?

Are you running any game profiles through the GeForce application for the games to launch?

Ok then.  Your monitor refresh-rate....is it the same rate in the monitor controls, in Windows, and in the game options?

I also did the Superposition benchmark and got 8000 which seems a bit low for my specs. Saw people getting a lot higher with the same specs?

To clarify

In the monitor controls, their are options to make changes to the display. These buttons are on the bottom right corner of the monitor or side panel. This is completely separate from windows and nvidia control panel / game options.

The manual for the monitor discusses them including the rest of the features that are supported by it.
