Product key for downloaded installation media

InvokerKael

I downloaded the installation media from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11

and just wanna make sure I go about getting a product key in the right way.

I'm guessing go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows, > "get windows 11" > scroll down to "get your license" and select the "Windows 11 Home (Download)".

I'm just a little confused that there is no option to just buy a KEY by itself. Did I do the it correctly with downloading the installation media the way I did?

Side note: It's a little annoying that it keeps redirecting me to the german license download because that's where I'm located :/

So you have windows downloaded and you just need a key?

As in you have the little watermark on the bottom right?

That IS buying a key, download is saying you don't want physical media. What you download is the same as from the install media site.

No I don't have the watermark, but in the settings it tells me to activate with a key

You should be able to purchsae from a key reseller for about 10EUR or so then instead of from windows for 100 and something euro

Correct, that's what the install media creation tool is for 🙂

Honestly, I would just buy a key from a 3rd party websites, like those cdkey stores, then once installed, just to to the settings to activate it.

But on another note that's only kind of related to this topic. My OS got corrupted and I needed to reinstall my OS. I downloaded a copy directly from microsoft  and then I modified it using NTlite, so that I can remove bloatware and unwanted settings and app before installing. After that, the usual, I created a bootable usb and then reinstalled it to my pc. I set it up so that it o that it would as me to create a local account and not prompt me to login with my microsoft account. The weird thing was that when I'm on the desktop there's no watermark. Checking the Activation settings, it says its activated. I got curious so I opened cmd and registry and found a product key that's not mine. lol now I got two.

wild, I downloaded the installation media on my previous pc which was a prebuilt, so who knows I might have one hidden too, microsoft has their ways... but theoretically I shouldn't since it was probably an oem license. Will check..
