What resolution? Are you gaming or other? What programs/games will you use? If it’s 1440p a 4070 or 7800 xt should be great. Maybe even for 1080p

Message me on discord (bread8669) for more help

Would not go above a 4070 / 7900GRE . You would have to upgrade the CPU to get much more performance.

GT 730 is an obvious choice,

but perhaps 7800 XT if we want to play recent games and some that haven't been released yet..

You’d probably get a cpu botteneck but the 7800 xt should be a good option

With those games at 1080p, anything more than maybe a 4070 ti super or whatever is is a waste.

do you plan on upgrading the display to 1440p anytime soon?

so it really depends how often you upgrade and how long you want it to last, on 1080p it's not gonna require as much VRAM as a 1440p or 4K would in the future, though,

so like a 7800 XT I guess would be plenty, it's slightly faster than 4070 but should also be cheaper,

you'd only want Nvidia if you want Nvidia features or RT performance, which is what comes with the increased price, AMD can also RT if the settings aren't too high or the RT isn't demanding, RT off is where AMD can be cheaper and on par or slightly better, depending on which cards are we comparing

also don't forget good PSU unless you already have one

At that price range, the good options are going to be bottlenecked by your CPU. You might get 200fps instead of 250fps.

Can your monitor show 250 or even 200fps? Is it the end of the world?

Anyway, I recommend the 7900 GRE. See this video at 08:15 of what it can compete with when the memory is overclocked. Check the price of those GPUs it competes with

When you finally upgrade to 1440p, it becomes a 4070Ti, and at 4K it becomes a 4070Ti Super
