ping spikes I think its an ISP problem but am unsure

Hi,

so when playing games i get this micro lag spikes now and again and i have no idea whats causing it my wife has the same problem so it could be a problem on our network but i have no idea how to test for this or if its a problem with my ISP i need help

Theres a 1gb link from ISP router (4years old ish) to my AP everything on my network is WIFI or wired to this AP.
wiring is my AP 1gb cable to my switch which has both PC wired to it this is 2.5gb link between the PC's (steam local downloads are fast AF thats y i have this also there is only 1 cable running up stairs in the house from were the AP is)


my ap is a TP-link AC1750 in AP mode doesnt handle nat the ISP router is dealing with that (my PC is a plex server as well)

Tried rebooting the router?

Are you monitoring your bandwidth utilization at the same time you see spikes in your ping? Saturation can cause increased latency. So can CPU at 99%, the switch, the AP and the ISP router all have CPU inside of them, it would be hard to monitor them all.

What type your Internet is? DSL, Cable, Fiber? 

Can probably connect a laptop to ISP router directly and ping Google all day to see if you have the same spikes.
