cpu motherboard and ram for under 200 USD

I gotta get a cpu, motherboard, and ram for under 200 USD

I need atleast 6 cores and 12 threads, and atleast 16gb 3200mhz ddr4 ram.

ATX perferably, but mATX would work too. Nothing smaller

Im fine wit buying used and I have a good cpu cooler lying around that fits modern consumer cpu sockets

Good luck with that.

Look on the used market I guess.

Maybe an old Xeon combo deal?
Even an 8700k + motherboard + RAM would be more than 200.

Then look around the used market near you and see what you find. You might get lucky with a whole 5800X3D setup for $200, or you might be limited to an R5 1600. The one thing that's consistent about the used market is that it's inconsistent, so making any sort of recommendations on what you should get is next to impossible.

Not if you're lucky. My 8700K combo was only $120 on eBay.

(ignore the fact that it only listed the motherboard was included, and the CPU/RAM/2 SSDs were in there by blind luck).

Is this good and safe to buy?

I might consider a little overclocking too

Doesn't meet your requirement of 6 cores, but it is faster than most 6 cores, so...

Gamers Nexus review that compares both:

Would strongly recommend spending more on the motherboard though, the ASRock H610 doesn't even have a M.2 slot.

Both CPUs have a cooler in the box.

B450 motherboards are fine, but there's two main issues: it might have old BIOS that doesn't support newer CPUs "out of the box" and it only has PCI-E 3.0.

The A520 board in my box is not better, but it is V2 and has support for every AM4 CPU from the first BIOS.

If the board is old then it may not, the shipping BIOS was for Ryzen 2000.

Any new B450 board I'd expect to work out of the box with Ryzen 3000 and probably 5000 too.

Ryzen 7 2700X, 16GB DDR4, B450 microATX board. All used, of course. BYO cooler, but an AM4 cooler can be had for $15 on Amazon.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.
