is AMD FSR worth it?

u55ama

Seeing new FSR Frame Rate jumps, I wanted to give it a try. Is it worth it?
How do I get it or is it already installed with the driver updates?

MY GPU: 6600XT

FSR depends on the game that has it implemented.

It can be very useful to get more FPS while the visual quality stay quite good.

Just try it in supported games. Settings can usually be found in the graphical settings.

The recent news of FSR 3.1 looks very exciting regardless if you have AMD GPU or not, but presumably this needs game support.

It's something you can enable in supported games. It's definitely worth it to enable it in games that support it, if you're struggling to get a playable frame rate otherwise. But it can have some visual artifacts. E.g. in Cyberpunk 2077 I generally use XeSS instead, since it gives a similar performance boost with less visual glitches.

He doesn't know how to enable it, that's the main ask here.  Like others have said, it's in each game's graphics settings if they have implemented it.

if it is indeed as good as amd showed it to be then we're gonna need a new app for it similar to dlss swapper

Thanks mate! I'll try enabling it in-game with any supported games that I have.

Upscaling (FSR, DLSS, etc) is iffy at 1080p. The base resolution is already low that even using the quality mode you may be unhappy with the quality of the output. YMMV, of course.

that's 1200p then 🙂

ps: also no you probably don't, a 1080x1200 screen probably doesn't even exist.  😉

you could check in windows --> right click on desktop --> display settings will show you your actual resolution.

At this resolution, 'Quality' is probably the only preset that looks halfway decent. In most cases, you'll only want to use upscaling if you can't get the desired performance at your native resolution. Especially at 1080p, the upscaled image quality will be worse than the native one. At 1440p, the difference isn't that big, and at 4K, there's barely any difference. The more pixels the algorithm has to work with, the better the results will be.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

Personally I’d be droping settings from ultra to high/ medium before using fsr to avoid the shimmer and flickering

but if you already did that and still need more fps quality mode it is

-13600kf

- 4000 32gb ram

-4070ti super duper
