Is it okay to daisy chain a 7800xt?

Vex828

The psu I’m using is the corsair rm750e, I’ve been seeing so much mixed information, some people say it’s okay, some say it’ll start a fire.

Get that white wire out of there, and no fires will happen.

(if you don't move the white wire, no fires will happen either, but that doesn't induce fear like the implication does)  🙂

I would, but it’s for the fan and there was no other slots on my motherboard

Can you not route it behind the motherboard or is it not long enough?

Do you really think the PSU brand would include daisy chained cables if they're a fire hazard? It's fine. I've been using a 3080 off a daisy chained connector for almost 3 years now and there haven't been any issues.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

7800XT draws max 270W, so max 200W are needed out of the Pcie cable, they're rated for 150W technically but can stand double, so no issue

But why did you twist/knot the cable ? 😮

You've been using a card that has been out for less than 3.5 years, for almost 5 years?

That's impressive.

Sorry it was a typo, corrected it...

You can use any daisy chained cables on GPUs with a TDP at or below 225W (cables delivering 150W of those). Any reputable company will also use HCS terminals, which makes them fine to deliver 300W. The RMe included.

Only sketchier companies (Seasonic is notorious for this) use regular Minifit Jr. terminals on their higher end PSUs.

:)

I don’t think I can, gpus pretty large not too much clearance, cord doesn’t get hit though

Twist it near the PSU so the twist can't be seen

And shouldn't you rather flip the PSU upside down? Is there some perforation on the bottom of the case for the PSU fan ?

The psu is flipped upside down, fans facing down I guess that’s just how they have the logo
