sony xm4 earphones poor sound quality in windows 11

I have a pair of Sony xm4 earphones and when watching YouTube on windows 11 the sound quality is good but when playing games on windows 11 the sound quality is poor I am using my intel WiFi 7 be200 cards Bluetooth.

Doesn't make any sense. Have you tried youtube on another browser?

the sound quality is good with everything but games not sure what is going on here.

What was the issue?

Not sure what it was, but taking a stab in the dark I suspect it was an issue with bidirectional bluetooth. Bluetooth massively reduces audio quality when using a device as both an audio input and output. Games are pretty likely to automatically pick up microphones, while most other applications won't.

 

To fix it, just disable the associated input device in your audio devices and use a different microphone.
