Big doubt about ram height of Trident gSkill z5 Neo for compatibility with air cooler

Hi, I have a big doubt regarding the height of G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo ram, precisely those with the code F5-6000J3038F16GX2-TZ5N, the doubt comes from the fact that I have to mount a Thermalright Phantom Spirit that accepts a maximum height of 42mm. From G. Skill, all z5 Neo rams have a height of 44mm, but this doesn't seem true to me, because another user a few months ago made a post regarding the very same rams, and another user (i.e. @GuiltySpark_ whom I tag hoping you can answer me here as well to help me dissolve this doubt) replied him with pictures of his configuration where he has just z5 neo rams mounted with an ak620, and this is where the doubt arises: the ak620 supports a maximum ram height of 43mm, yet from his photos you can clearly see that those ram are standing off the heatsink by at least 1mm, since the ak620 supports 43mm maximum, and those ram instead should be 44mm, this should not be possible, at this point so I thought that the official website is wrong and therefore those ram are 42mm high and not 44mm. Can anyone help me understand this doubt? or simply user GuiltySpark raised the fan a bit and I didn't realize it? thanks

I put here the photos by GuiltySpark_ from the other topic:

Don't think the tag worked.

I've used that cooler before, it hasn't been raised.

Realistically I wouldn't worry that much about it, worst case scenario you can just raise the fan 1-2mm on the Phantom Spirit if you do have issues. Either that or you could get the Flare X5/Ripjaws version of that kit which is only 33mm tall for effectively the exact same memory kit.

Non pensare che il tag abbia funzionato.

@GuiltySpark_

thank you for tagging the user correctly, let's wait what he tells us, for me gskill's information is wrong, if it was indeed 44mm he could not have mounted them on an ak620 unless he moved the fan up, and I don't recall he did

Well that was odd opening this and seeing my pictures 🤣

Anyway, I can assure you the fan was not raised as you can clearly see in the pics, that would have been unacceptable. I'm not actually using that cooler and more but AK620 specs are here:

That being said as @RONOTHAN## suggested if you're really concerned there are a few lower profile kits that are basically identical. 6000CL30 w/ EXPO

so the maximum ram height compatible with the ak620 is 47mm, why then do they say it is 43mm?

at this point it would be nice if there was such a picture for the phantom spirit as well, unfortunately i already bought those ram

Looks like the meaning of low profile for ram has definitely changed with the times. The lower profile rams of now are basically standard height. True low profile rams are much shorter, around 18mm in height vs 30mm in height found on standard ones.

Low profile heatspreader is more accurate, I guess.

what you can't understand is how they estimate the maximum height of the ram for each heatsink, the deepcool ak620 has a maximum height of 43cm and yet from that chart it comes out that up to 47cm the ram can fit, as well as the phantom spirit has a height of as much as 60cm from the ram, can anyone explain anything?

by the way i take the opportunity to ask you if you think there are better choices than phantom spirit to cool a 7800x3d, i chose him because from the Hardware Canucks video, the Phantom Spirit is the one with better results to cool a ryzen 7600x, 7700x and 7950x, so i assume it is the best one also to cool a 7800x3d, do you guys have any advice on this? thank you

I don't think that CPU 40mm section is going to interfere with the ram. Ram will most likely fall under the 60mm part, which would give plenty of clearance room. Raise fan if you have to, if ram and cpu cooler are interfering.
