Opinions on LTT screwdriver

Grace_Maple

Hi, I'm considering purchasing an ltt screwdriver since the retro one came out today. i know I'm on a slightly bias platform for it but I thought it would be the best place to ask.

would it be worth me buying it as I think the features are really cool and i will be building a new PC in febuary and would also just be using it on other things from time to time.

Ive always just seen it as a novelty unless you plan to use it quite often. Any old screw driver for 1$ at Walmart will work perfectly fine for your one off projects but if your using it quite often it can be great and assuming you enjoy ltt content your also supporting future projects. Really its up to you and where you want to spend your money its a great screwdriver that you wont go wrong with but just know there are cheaper options that will still screw a screw in.

I very much like my screwdriver and stubby. I think they are pretty good quality. That said it is a premium product with a premium price. If you just want a ratcheting screwdriver there are cheaper options. (also, if your not getting frequent use out of it, it isn't a great purchase)

Common build advice: 1) Buy the cheapest (well reviewed) motherboard that has the features you need. Paying more typically only gets you features you won’t use. 2) only get as much RAM as you need, getting more won’t (typically) make your PC faster. 3) While I recommend getting an NVMe drive, you don’t need to splurge for an expensive drive with DRam cache, DRamless drives are fine for gamers. 4) paying for looks is fine, just don’t break the bank. 5) Tower coolers are usually good enough, unless you go top tier Intel or plan on OCing. 6) OCing is a dead meme, you probably shouldn’t bother. 7) "Bottlenecks" rarely matter and "Future-proofing" is a myth. 8) AIOs don't noticably improve performance past 240mm.

Cheap tools aren’t worth the frustration they cause. Nothing’s worse than thinking you’re turning a screw, when really it’s the stripped handle spinning on the screwdriver shaft.

Everyone should have a good-quality 6-in-1 screwdriver, minimum.

The LTT driver is a little pricey if it’s just going to live in a drawer most of the time, but it’s worth it if you use a screwdriver regularly. It's well-made and will take standard 1/4-hex bits if you don't want to buy the LTT shorty bit packs. My biggest criticism is that the handle can get a little slippery if it gets oil or grease on it. (It doesn't have rubber overmolding or an aggressive geometric shape.)

the reviews are good, people seem to like it, i personally cant justify such a high price (+shipping) for a screw driver

I bought one a while back, and every computer I've built since then it has been my main tool. The ratchet mechanism is better than any other driver I've used.

My Current Setup:

AMD Ryzen 5900X

Kingston HyperX Fury 3200mhz 2x16GB

MSI B450 Gaming Plus

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

EVGA RTX 3060 Ti XC

I personally really like my LTT screwdriver. I use it fairly often and it’s been solid for everything I’ve used it on.
I will admit there are cheaper alternatives that would do just as good a job but I have had dozens of people doubt the screwdriver and without fail as soon as they have it in their hands and try it for themselves they always say how nice a screwdriver it is.

So I'm no handyman or mechanic or anything. That said I do dabble around the house putting together cat trees, ikea furniture, and rarely inside a computer case. The screw driver is great and I love it. I like how easy the bit storage is and just over all function of the driver. Now when you start talking about how much wrist turns to get a full rotation and junk that others go on about that's above my pay grade lol.

Would another cheaper driver suit me? sure probably. But, I like to support the channel and its super good quality. I tried some other cheaper drivers from lowes and stuff and the whole unit just doesn't work as smoothly. It's annoying to get puts in and out of the lowes one and over all just a worse experience than the LTT driver. Probably the closest driver I have to compare it to is an old Klein tools one I got from my father 100 years ago (okay maybe more like 15-20) But, while that one is as smooth an operator when it comes to adding and removing bits and I would 100% buy it again. The bit tray is non existent. It's just a void in the handle that holds lose bits. So not as an enjoyable experience.

TLDR: While the LTT Screw Driver is more expensive than a $12 screwdriver from lowes. It's about 30x the value IMO when it comes to quality improvements. If you have the money to spend I would 100% recommend the LTT one. If your on a budget go for the cheaper. Because while it's not as nice unless your using it on the daily then food, rent, whatever is more important than what little better quality of life improvement it will make.
