Enterprise does have features to prevent drive tampering.

Another would be that you are taking a fisk from a system in ahci sata mode to one for example in raid or ide mode

Either way keep in min sata ports and power plugs are rated to be unplugged about 15 times before damage to the connecto starts so if you do this a lot use a usb envlosure

You're swapping drives from a mac to a PC... internally???

How do you have the drive formatted??? Are there multiple partitions? Do you have ntfs drivers installed on your mac or HFS+ drivers installed on your windows machine? Or is it formatted in some kind of FAT?

Just.... just get a esata drive enclosure or you're going to ruin your drive.

You're not losing.... enough to be doing all that BS when comparing USB 3 vs sata. Remember, file copy operations are single threaded in windows, so the difference is.... a few MB/s (a couple %) between USB3 and sata. Obviously the performance gap widens when you use multithreaded transfers, but I doubt you're doing that.

both systems run windows 10 enterpirse. the HFS+ driver doesnt work on windows 10 and its formated in ntfs. also my mac only has usb 2.0 and so or all my 3.0 drivers a taken up by other drives.

Honestly man, what you're doing is very unconventional, and SATA drives were never meant to be unplugged and plugged in like that very often.

What I would do is keep the drive in the newer computer and setup a windows share between the two computers. The share will be faster than usb 2, but slower than sata, so it's a good middleground, and you won't have to worry about this issue (or ruining your drive).

How much is your data stability worth to you?

Let me get this clear:

You're regularly taking an internal drive out and swapping it repeatedly between two different machines?

You need an actual USB external SSD.

Then none of this is gonna work. The method you're using isn't supported by old or modern hardware, and it's ancient.
