Thank you guys so much for sharing. This helps me a lot. even a small simple real life data is important for me.

I have a 2 year contract with my ISP for 50Mbps down and max 4Mbps up and they limit my speed after 200GB data to 3Mbps down no changes to upload speed. but you rarely get 4Mbps upload it also sits around 3Mbps. I pay $28 per month. It may seem less but in my country it translates to a lot of money for this connection. and this was the highest one available last year. This year they increased  the max data from 200GB to 300GB before they limit the speed. But I cant switch it because of the contract and price went even higher. And I live in a proper city. It is not like a rural area or somewhere far away from the city. The fiber infrastructure in this country is horribly lacking. But the companies earn billions of dollars every year but that money disappears basically. And when I say billions I am talking about net income not just revenue. And I know Fiber optic cables are expensive but with a billion dollars at least they should be able to cover the most crowded city in the country with more than 16 million people live. I think at some point government should step in and I don't know force companies to invest more or maybe make a law that requires ISPs to invest certain amount of money to fiber optic infrastructure each year to be able to operate in the country. Anyway, Thank you so much for this. It will help me to create a conversation in my country about this. I gathered a a lot of data after I first asked this question. We campaigned last year and a year before for the removal of these speed and data limits. Thankfully government heard us and they mapped a plan for the removal of these limits by the end 2018. But this year in May ( like a week later), some articles of this bill will be started to be applied by the all ISPs. Some ISPs asked to postpone this but thankfully government refused it by saying there was enough time to be prepared for this (law finalized and announced officially last year and goverment told the ISPs so they had more than a year since they were aware of everything even before the law). So in May, speed limits won't be the same for everyone. Currently no matter which plan you are in, and how much you pay, your speed will be limited to 3Mbps after the data limit of your plan. some plans have 50GB, some have 75, some have 100GB, 150GB, 200GB, 250 and 300GB max for consumers. I have 200 GB download limit. after this data limit my speed falls to 3Mbps. But in May this speed limit will change but not the data limits. I use 50Mbps down, so after data limit my speed will fall to 16Mbps instead of 3Mbps. 8Mbps plans will fall 3Mbps, 16Mbps will fall to 5Mbps, 25 and 35 will fall to 8Mbps, 50mbps will fall to 16Mbps as I said, and 100Mbps will fall to 24Mbps, (some ISPs can offer 500 and 1000Mbps speed, and for 500Mbps it will fall to 32Mbps and 1000Mbps to 64Mbps.) This is a huge step for us. And between the 02.00am and 08.00 am, all the downloads won't be counted against your download quota. Some small ISPs managed remove it for everyone altogether, but they are small so they don't have many customers so it doesn't cause a big problem for them. The big ones are the problem and they are the ones who don't invest as well. I will bring it up because it seems people are forgetting about it so I am afraid this big companies will find a way to undue everything or convince some people or cheat or something, I am trying to talk to people and tell them to tell their ISPs that they are aware of this and are waiting for them to implement it. Otherwise they will surely find an excuse not to do it. They always do. I collect data to also remind people that we are nowhere near to perfect connectivity options and we should work and make sure ones we pay work as well. Anyway I talked too much thanks for everything :)

This is terrible. Sometimes I make that much traffic per week and I don`t even watch tv serials or movies. Mainly watching 100 youtube channels which I`m subscribed to. (+some porn and anime as well xD)

Every ISP using datacaps is truly evil.

Cuz I got no 25 euro to visit my gf by train. (and I would need another 25 euro to go back) How long will I be in the train you ask? Less then 2 hours. Is that a rip-off? YES IT IS. Dutch railways suck, and because of that, I am so salty.

Insert cringe worthy comment about how if you really loved her you'd walk, said by someone who's never had a gf, here

@AUniqueName So you would have me walk for 40 hours, to get less salty? To get "it" out of my system? And then walk back again? Another 40 hours? No thank you, and I'd bet my GF wouldn't be happy if I came on foot for just that reason.

Btw, our relationship is fine, and we have found ways to make it work.

I was joking.

It's the kind of cringey comment you see on facebook posts "I would walk any distance to see my love" that kind of shit. Would they fuck.

@AUniqueName I am considering visiting my GF using my bicycle. But I am not sure yet, because the gearing is really bad. On a bike like I have, it should take about 13-14 hours. But if I do, it will be during summer time.

How high were you when the bike idea came around? :P

Not that high + I keep thinking about it. So it's not a high-only idea.

Ok. I still wouldn't recommend you do it tho. There's gotta be a way you can 50 eur till this summer, go over for a few days and come back.

Or start a go-fund-me page :D

@ImadKnight Meh, need to remain stoned and all that kind of stuff. I know better ways to spend them 50 euros.  And well, going 13-14 hours on a bike does show I care. So that should get me some bonus points for the relationship. ;)

Damn if other guys are prepared to bike 13-14 hours to see their gfs, I really need to step up my game. xD

I also have a (not serious) reverse problem with my relationship where my gf never lets me pay for things. She insists on paying...
