Roasting Chinese Gaming Setups

HC_writes

The Lunar New Year celebrations are in full swing! Instead of roasting food, we’ll be roasting setups sent in by our viewers from China! One thing is immediately certain: gamers all around the world will do anything for more frames.

Saw the Bilibili post a week or two ago and asked if Chinese people that live outside of China could participate - I have a 15 dollar case from Golden Field with Ryzen 5000 and Ampere in it (the perfect combination, who needs a case anyways), unfortunately my question did not get answered and I ended up not submitting a build, but still suprised at how fast this video came out. Great work, guys!

I cannot believe no one has noticed this atrocity in build 15.

I'm not sure if I have ever seen something like that 😆

It's worth calling out that outlets in China are a... bit of a mixed bag at best. There's no less than 3 different kinds of outlet you can encouter on a daily basis, depending on where the thing was made, who it was made for, what kind of thing it is, etc.

You can encounter:

  • Type A plugs (two prong ungrounded outlets, similar to the US non-polarized ones here)
  • Type C plugs (two round pin plugs, aka Europlug)
  • Type I plugs (two angled with a ground pin, which is also used in Australia and other similar countries)

Type A is also used in Japan. Type I looks eerily similar to the US NEMA5-15 when plugged into the wall. It's a mad rush to the point that a power strip might well look like this:

well i also think that outlret is not a good indication of the origin of the guy who send the photo

in my country also we don't have an standard outlet and we use Type C and Type F (the usual One) or type G (usually if you see it they used it for something that draw a lot of power) of wall plugs funny part even in one house you may find a combination of these three type

that is a pretty much tame power stripe

look at the adaptor i use on my power stripes to make them compatible with various devices , the one on top provide all the connection you need and the lower one provide all the security features they must put there when they designed the electrical wiring in the home and they decided who care

Highly doubt that it's Japanese. At least in the 10 years I've been living here, never seen a wall socket mounted sideways. Haven't been to the US so I don't know the situation over there.

More often than not, in Japan it's the one below or doesn't have the earth pin.

Mixed Type B/D plugs are indeed common in the mainland.

Sideways outlets are a signature look for areas around Chicago IL. Cook county and the surrounding counties all do them sideways for SOME horrible reason, it makes life a chore because everything is designed for vertical outlets and mine are all sideways.

Yea, The outlet looks similar to the one that I have my PC plugged into (In China)

And also, Linus mentioned ROG (if I recall) as a point for it not being a Chinese PC, Not sure where he gets his info, ROG is sold here and is quite popular.
