Best OLED monitor?

Has anyone results on hardcore burn-in tests on the existing OLEDs in Laptops or the Alienware?

I am *very* careful with my OLED TV an notice some slight burn in on plain gray surfaces from time to time. If I would use it as a monitor for 100hr, it would definetly have noticeable effects...

EDIT: I do not want to make any statement to the reliability of OLED monitors. It is definetly a different kind of technology, than my first-gen TV. Just asking a genuine question about data on that.

I've been using my LG C2 for hundreds of hours of desktop useage and gaming since i got it a few months back. So far there is no sign of burn in. The issue you're describing is probably just temporary image retention, which goes away in a few minutes.

So on the topic at hand:

At 27" i'd say the LG one will be the obvious choice. They all use the same panel, so the main diffrence will come down to small details and the price. The Acer and Asus variants are already marketed with a $100 premium or more.

The 45" ultrawides all have the same dealbreaking issue: Pixel density. They're a no-go from me.

In the 42" space the LG C2 is the obvious choice, as it's pricing is extremely aggressive.

On the 34" front the Dell AW3423DWF seems to be the best atm.

TL:DR:

The upcoming 27" 240Hz monitors will probably take the cake for "best overall gaming monitors" but in-depth reviews are still pending.

I am eagerly waiting for the OLED monitors but sadly they are not coming out at the same time. From what I see there is a lot of info already. Based on what we already know, does anyone here know which of them currently will be the best?

The first one to come out is the LG one in a few days so if you guys think that LG will be the top choice I will just go for it without waiting for the others but if you think that one of the others will be better I guess I'll wait.

Mmmm cant say about OLED, LG will probably be the hottest one until the tech gets more mainstreamed

Myself I've been dreaming about a quantum dot monitor, I want all the colors! 🤣

Depends on what you want. Basically all same. All great for gaming and watching movie but not so good for productivty due to text frigging issue.

  • 27" OLED - LG 27GR95QE-B, not selling yet.
  • 34" QD-OLED - Alienware AW3423DWF or Samsung Odyssey OLED G8.
  • 42" OLED - LG C2.
  • 45" OLED - LG 45GR95QE-B or Corsair Xeneon Flex 45WQHD240, I will skip both because 45" in 3440x1440 resolution is too low PPI. Not selling yet.

Probably the upcoming Samsung Odyssey G9 49" 32:9 display.

If they have indeed fixed the 'anti glare' layer (basically adding a polarizer) to stop the raised blacks in bright rooms from happening, then it will likely be the 'best' OLED monitor. For 'normal users the size will be fine as its effectively 2x 27" 1440p monitors. its also not crazy curved at 'only' 1800r.

Personally i wish the G9 Neo was also OLED, its a beast. it, at 57" 32:9, is equal to 2x 32" displays, and is 4k (they advertise 8k ..its not) 7680 x 2160 at 240hz. Alas its LCD ..but it is mini LED with FALD at the very least. has a rather extreme 1000r curve BUT at this size and aspect ration thats actually good for a comfortable ~40" screen to eye view distance. Still ..itsn ot OLED so i wont be getting it. Perhaps the next gen version of it will be OLED..probably not >.<

ofc price is the big problem for both these with an expected MSRP of $2k and $2.5k ..ridiculous ..but without proper competition its what you get.

Regarding the plain grey surfaces, don't worry about it. I have that on my OLED I got since september 2018. What you see is image retention, not burn-in. Image retention will vanish. You'll only notice it if you're looking for it and also if you're very close to the TV.

I'm not afraid so as soon as the new LG OLED monitor will be released here in the Netherlands, I'll buy it asap. Asus sucks when it comes to their words and they'll likely release their OLED monitors next year or so... And all others will take too long
