Noctua fan recommendations for Fractal North Mesh

vladonizer

I am looking at building in this case soon and was planning on using Noctua fans because I've heard they perform great with low noise an I really like the color. I want to occupy every fan mount with the most efficient fan specific for that spot and mesh/filter it may have to pull air through and am looking for recommendations on the specific ones that will work the best for using lower RPMs. If they perform well at quiet levels I am willing to use the stock case fans with the Noctua fans: Just don't know much about them

3x120mm fans in front with for intake

1x120mm fan in back for exhaust

2x(120 or 140)mm fans in top for exhaust

2x(120 or 140)mm fans on side panel for intake

Would it be better to do those at the front intakes, maybe NF-A14 for side intake and top exhaust and a NF-S12a for back exhaust since there won't be resistance there?

Really NF A12 are good as well as case fans than on a rad

Mixing 120 and 140mm may result in a worse overall look, and need 2 curves as they don't have same speed

And I doubt performance will be any different in both cases

I will not really be able to see the fans unless I take the mesh side panel off(using this case: https://www.fractal-design.com/products/cases/north/north/charcoal-black/ ) I just thought the side intake might work better with 140s and I will of course use a Noctua air cooler on my CPU. I was also planning on setting the curves differently on the fans blowing on the GPU than the cpu. But if the A12's would perform the same, then I guess it doesn't really matter?

Yes mostly !

BTW if you're not completely taken by Noctua-itis and won't see the fans, you could get Arctic P12s for 20% of the price with 95% of the performance , and noise won't be a concern as case fans are usually on lowish speed (50%)

From their website it looks more like half the price, but still does save a lot of money

Edit: Nevermind, I wasn't looking at the 5 packs

P12's aren't as quiet as NF-A12x25's.

True overall, but at 1000rpm or below (which should be fast enough for case fans) you won't hear any of them, and be richer by $200 (for 8 fans) 😛

Most fans above 500rpm are audible to me unless there's a solid panel blocking them.

1000rpm fans are far from quiet for almost all fans and too noisy for idle.

At 500rpm most people won't hear anything unless in a really silent environment, but that's quite a personal taste/sense

However difference between Noctuas and Arctic (or anything else) is then really negligible

You're right too, but spending $30 to $40 x8 for case fans is just kinda silly imho

T30s are for rads/heatsinks

Plus they're even uglier than Noctuas  😛

They're kind of subdued looking, not the best but not the worst IMO. They have RGB T30s coming out in March though with slightly less performance.
