Graphics "staircase effect" on most everything.

Spike mf1

Hello,

I am trying to figure out how to fix what I assume is a graphic issue of some kind. This is something I have dealt with for multiple years.  So with just about any image via my pc is shows a staircase effect.  Example, I downloaded corsairs background images just for a background,  they look terrible... stair case everywhere.  Colors look bad to technically... but I'm more concerned account the stair case.  another example just on googles dash page.  Same thing just stair case of ugliness.  I'm running a 1080 ASUS, windows 10 64 bit, i7-7700.  drivers are updated and I have updated the bios somewhat recently. ( this issue was going on before any update).  Any needed/missing info please tell me and I'll try my best to get the info.

Just adding some more.  When I Games I don't really notice this issue to be honest unless its a loading screen.  Example Halo Infinite, Main menu no issue.  While playing no issue.  However the loading screen looks awful.

I can take more photos of other things if needed.  I picked these two because I see them the most.  But its just about everything, even watching YouTube I can see it sometimes.

What hz is showing in your drivers ? What do you run in Screen Resolution ? Do you run V-Sync in drivers (or software) ? You shouldn't.

Try lowering the monitor to 120hz. Use Freesync (must have AMD GPU), G-Sync (must have nVidia GPU) if you have it, make sure it's on in drivers.

Run Enhanced Sync (AMD) or Fast Sync (nVidia) in drivers.

Not gunna lie.  I am not sure what all that is... I did try changing the Hz via nvidia control panel.  It did not change anything.  I believe V-Sync is not on? (honestly thought that was a game option ha).  G-Sync in control panel is on. I am not sure how to see if its on via drivers though... and fast sync I do not know where that is.  Would you mind walking me through?

Did you try resetting monitor defaults from its OSD menu?

Yes I have.  I also tried different setting platforms in the OSD menu, like rts/game, movie etc.

You might have some weird settings for brightness/contrast in nvidia control panel

Also what's your resolution tab showing in there?

My Contrast was 50 last night.  Was messing around with it some last night trying to get anything looking better, but at 50 or 60, its the same.  Just wanted to mention that as its the only difference from your photo from what I could tell.
