This is why it sucks working in IT.

SwiftXShadow

As a private citizen this is what RTX 4090 would cost.

Now if i login with my company account the cost turns into this.

i don't get it.

are you complaining that your discount isn't big enough?

or that you don't get paid enough to be able to afford it regardless of the discount?

Yes but for business purposes our companies do not have to pay tax. For example the phantom WITH tax would be 2050€ which would still be cheaper.

That isnt a discount for me. Even if i bought it with my company account and payed 100% of that money back to the company it would be corruption. In other words i CANNOT buy it for myself for that price. I can just cry that my company gets it for so cheap but i never will.

Strange, i've probably seen hundreds of people buying the AW3423DW monitor through dell business stuff when it was released. I'm not a lawyer, but i don't think it's illegal.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

Yeah, might be against company policy (your company or the seller), but I doubt there's laws. But then again, I don't know jack.

I can give you a hundred reasons why working in IT sucks and this isn't one of them.

Not even exclusive to IT. This is a weird thread.

This is where reading whatever contract or ToS for the corporate account comes into play. If there’s nothing explicitly forbidding the sale of discounted products to employees, then you can probably swing it (with permission from your company), guilt-free. You’re not stealing from them, so technically laws are not broken. However, you may need to pay use tax yourself (which may nullify the discount anyway) if it isn’t assessed.

If I understand correctly, I think OP's point is that corporations (the first class citizens of the modern dystopia) get a discount whereas regular Joes (the third class gutter filth) have to pay more; it is objectionable that those who perhaps have a greater capacity to pay get to pay less whereas those with less capacity to pay have to pay more.

A regular business having an Employee Purchase Program (Dell has these, as do many other vendors) is one thing - but from the tax situation, it sounds like the OP works for a non-profit or government entity. It could be considered a misuse of public funds, or possibly even against the law, for an employee to use those special discounts to buy something for personal use.
