1440p, or 4k, depends on the game, or if I'm going for higher fps.

Interesting, I thought 1080p would be more popular given that locally 80% of monitors for sale are 1080p. But poll so far shows 1440p the most common!

With your 3070 you could play 80% of pc games maxed out, the other 20% or so medium-high, at 4K. Single player games play fine at 60fps I find.

Eg. Cyberpunk 2077 would play well at 60fps at maxed out with DLLS quality (on your 3070).

Multiplayer games tend to be less demanding, like fortnite or Apex, on high settings I bet you could get more than 60fps all time with a 3070 on 4K.聽

Wish I had your card 馃槢 I game on 1080p because I'm still gaming on a Vega 64. Though about moving to 1440p but not sure with the 64 yet. Not ready to upgrade hardware.聽

Till recently I had radeon rx 5600 xt 6gb and only had 1080p games on.. Rtx 2070 cost double of that previous card and I was lucky enough to get full refund from it cause u put it on service after pandemic and they just returned money after 30 days.. Fun ironic fact is the vendor I had it from it is reselling it for its original price as used goods now lol聽

Most 1080p monitors are for office uses and ppl who don't play much games.. Or don't share gaming community just cause of casual..聽

Once you use 2k you can't go back to 1080p. I won't be upgrading my set up for a while diamond hands bois.

Imo 1440p is the best balance between quality and ease to run. I have a 3080ti, but I'd still like to run games at higher than 60fps so 1440p 144hz was best for me. My monitor goes up to 240hz but to keep the best color I keep it at 144hz. 90% of games I wouldn't be able to run that high anyway, and I'm not a CS:GO player.

Unless I got a deal to good to pass up on a 1440 or greater display, I'll continue to main my HP 24m and old 19" Element tv.
Gaming at 1080p 60hz works perfect for me since I don't do any competitive gaming and just want to enjoy myself.
720 on my little secondary is fine, after all, do I really need a higher res to read text on discord or web?

Everything except sim-racers - 1080p (still on GTX 1070) 24" LG IPS display. Would really like to step up to 1440p, but GPU prices are still nuts around here, so will have to wait a bit more till RDNA 3 comes out so i can finally buy an RX 6800XT. For sim-racers though currently i go for 5760x1080 (triple screen), but once i get a proper GPU, will move to VR, probably G2 or Quest 2.

Then for 1440p will get rid of the 3 screens and go for a single LG 27GN800 or 32GN650 depending on which one looks better at that resolution.聽

So I am still playing on a (very nice) 24" 1080p 144Hz display, but my new 32" 1440p 165Hz display is on its way. Some people say the pixel density is too low, but I am old enough to not see the huge differences and it is exactly the same as my old monitor. Mostly, I am looking forward to having decent screen space for office work and seeing enemies in Hunt as well as a more immersive experience in environmental games.聽

I have had 4k at聽24" and 28", 1440 at 25" and all that was nice, but I don't care unless it gets actually blurry, which neither of my monitors will. That's why I bought the small monitor, because it was enough and performance was good, and now the same thing applies with my big monitor.聽

I even tried 800p with FSR from my Steam Deck on my old monitor and it is fine.聽

1080p, more than enough for me. If I don't see how good 1440p looks I won't know how bad 1080p is 馃檪

Tad late to post a reply,聽 but this is soo true.

Story time for early 2010s.聽 Had an old pc partially upgraded and I continued to use the same resolution as before, 720p.聽 When you've organized your desktop, folders, icons the way you like and changing that up doesn't seem right.聽

But then twitch was starting to be a thing, and I'm trying out this new game and everything looks fine to me.聽聽 But then I see a stream on twitch of that game and decide to watch and in fullscreen.

WHAT THE HECK,聽 why is this video stream of this game look clearer, brighter, more colourful than when I'm playing it...

(the changed hardware supported or was native 1080 which i didn't use for reasons stated at the start.)

What is this magic, and the push to discover 1080p and to change was started.聽 Still on 1080, really against E-waste,聽 want to see 1440p someday.聽 Not happening till my LCD goes kaput, but even before that my 9 almost 10 year pc gets replaced first. 聽

I was using 3440x1440 until about a month or two ago when I got my hands on an alienware 1440p 240hz monitor.
So 1440p.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

I play at 1080p but I have been looking for a 1440p monitor but no that I have just moved I don't think that that can be achievable just yet.

I play at 1080p on a 60hz IPS monitor. It's on the large size at 32in.聽聽

I got it back in 2016 because it was on sale. Colors are nice and being 1080p lets me put less strain on my gpu. I'm tempted to upgrade to 1440p with a higher refresh rate, but it's not urgent.

While i can play at 4K on my monitor, my GPU is too weak to run modern titles at 4K and at times even 1440p so with very demanding titles i resort to 1080p.

I've been playing 4k since 2019, there's only 1 game I can't run at 60fps at 4k max (Hitman 3) so I run it at 1440p.
