Is the Core 2 Duo E8400 the best of the Core Duo series?

I have an E8400 and I would like to know if it's better than other Core 2 Duo's out there.

Do you mean core 2 duo? The core duo was a different 32bit lineup of cpus.

 

There is the E8600 which is a higher  clocked e8400 which would be faster in almost any task.

As said above, the e8600 was a little faster but the e4300 had a more impressive OC.

Better than some yes but why the question? Compared to even the lowest end modern day desktop stuff it doesnt even come close.

In what context? For a retro 2007-2009 build it's alright but youd want to get a core 2 quad. IN 2022 its entirely obsolete.

Oh, but you were asking if it was the best of the Core 2 Duo lineup.  Not if it was good or not.  It's NOT good, but if it's all you have then cool.

No, the E8400 isn't the best in the C2D lineup. It's also not going to win any awards these days. It's an obsolete dual core CPU from 14 years ago. It was outperformed by very low end CPUs 6 years ago. 

 

It's still useful in some situations (I use a C2D E8500 in one of my NAS systems), but not for general computing these days.

It was the baby of the bunch. The E8600 was at the top, until they slid in the ultra rare E8700. For C2D, those were the best.
