My thoughts

I, for one, think this is good. I love their products. My wife has a Model O and a custom GMMK. When leaving a review of the products, I suggested this exact name change to them. I told them that anytime I talked about their products with friends (in glowing terms), it was always an uncomfortable part of the conversation that the company name was a bit weird feeling. It's funny as a meme, but not so much as the name of a company.

I think it was a great name to get the company name out there quickly. Sure seemed to work. They're at a size now where the "PC Gaming Race" will start causing issues, if it hasn't already. Good on them!

It's funny because a company operating in a free market and making a profit motivated choice to change their name for better brand perception is literally nothing like a totalitarian regime forcing people to conform to the will of the party.

"Glorious" sounds a lot better. "Glorious PC Gaming Race" is a mouthful and sorta awkwardly phrased?

When I first heard it, I thought it was related to PCMR. IMO it sounded a little to close to it.

 

Just found it is. Oh well, still think the name was too long.

I would love to know, what made them actually change the name to Just Glorious.

 

Is it due the backlash from the Mainstream media, or some other reason? Only time will tell.

As Glorious PC gaming race is not a public traded company, It could be that they changed the name so they can go public in the upcoming future.

 

It could also be that Shazim Mohammad, is no longer a Majority share owner, being forced to change the name against his own wishes, because the other "Board" members found the name too offensive, for the current day and age.

I mean, it's good that they changed the name. The term "glorious PC gaming master race" was always meant as a really dark joke against the elitism of PC gamers. So for those same gamers to adopt it is peak irony to begin with and if you defend that term, you just out yourself as a smooth-brained troglodyte. But to then brand yourself with it as a company, even without the "master" part of the term, is just cringy and in bad taste.

Everytime I see "PC Master Race" I just think of a guy on Reddit who used the term when talking to his pen pal, only for said pen pal to promptly stop talking to him.

They're mice are absolute dog crap but their keyboards are good. The quality control with their mice (ESPECIALLY the wireless ones) is atrocious. 

 

Edit: what are they going to change their website domain to? It's currently "https://www.pcgamingrace.com/"

I wouldn't touch a glorious mouse with a 39.5 foot pole. I constantly recommend the GPX and everyone always scoffs at the $159 price tag. But what other thing for your pc do you use CONSTANTLY and keep for a long time? It is completely worth it and on sale for $119 sometimes.

Ive tried a TON of different mice over the past many years and had 2 Model D's and had QC issues with both. Now I use a GPX Superlight, and never been happier! I thought it was going to be smaller than it was, but it fits my hand perfectly.

I've never heard it referred to by anyone other than "Glorious". Hell I didn't even know that it also had the "pc gaming race" tacked onto the end of it until a month or so ago.

 

Glad is being changed, I dislike the whole pcmr cringe. It was a throwaway joke in a ZP video and people took it waay too far and made it their personality.

Glorious pc gaming race sounds like a knockoff need for speed game you'd find on Amazon.

Realistically this is mostly driven to simplify branding and to make them not be mistaken as fake meme brand. Most likely the claim of "racism" is to gain "good" press with those who don't know the meme or have the humor level of a rock.

 

Frankly it feels like pandering to people outside their customer base who wouldn't likely buy their products over some cheap mass market Logitech product.
