If you have two DHCPs when you plug the new mobo it's probably not updating both DHCP files with the new MAC and associated IP. I would most certainly not run two DHCPs like that and that would solve the issue otherwise you could spoof the mac of the new MOBO to the old's MAC and it will probably work fine. Or just update the DHCP file with the new MAC. If I had to guess why Linus's phone worked I would think it's because it uses private addresses so the real mac is never actually known so it won't conflict with the DHCP file entry.

Just keeping this here as a I would highly discourage from using Tidal because, although they claim they provide master quality audio, they use a proprietary encoder (MQA) which actually does a lossy conversion. At the moment, Apple Music is probably your best bet considering how massive their library is and their audio is untouched (just encoded to ALAC which is still lossless to lossless)

I'm curious what were the power outlets that seem to have been an unmentioned part of the tech upgrade for as well as what is the Stream Deck going to be used for is it shortcuts for CAD stuff or switching between VMs?

I worked in the bike industry for a few years running carbon crankarm production at RaceFace as a manufacturing engineer - hence the bike stuff. I've managed to pare down the bike stable to only 3 now 😂

Hey Colin,

 

I am a fellow speaker building enthusiast and I am just here to tell you about the most awesome speaker simulation software I know. It's "Boxsim" from a company named Visaton. As far as I know they also have an english version. It can handle pretty much all simulations and calculations you would ever need. You can build complex crossover circuits, you can design a case and get a simulation how it will affect the sound and so on. Since I use it I had a lot less trial and error. Also for their chassis which are quite decent (their high end stuff has an insane value at least here in germany because you can get it way under MSRP) they have detailed measurements for even higher precision simulation. But they also put an instruction manual online how to measure your own parts for perfect simulation. I really think you should check it out!

Using different subwoofers together is quite tricky. The ported design (and also any filters) will mess up the phase response. It's highly unlikely two different subwoofers with different processing will work together and you will get destructive interference at certain frequencies. You will need quite a capable loudspeaker controller to equalize the phase responses (and measuring equipment  to do so). 

Additionally, adding a more capable subwoofer renders the old one probably obsolete. Because audio levels are logarithmic, two identical, coherent sources will add together by +6 dB. If one source is 10 dB lower volume (half the perceived level) it will add only +2 dB. So if your new subwoofer is big step up from your old one just get rid of it. Sound quality will improve and the volume difference will be negligible. 

 

I just turned my living room into a makeshift workshop to build a new stand-up desk, so I'm a little envious about your glorious shop. A completely oversized loudspeaker system seems to be perfect for place where people normally wear hearing protection. 😅

I am claiming massive BS. lets see your sheet of what you paid for everything. no way you built a computer, a stereo system and got a $3600 welder for under 5K. the welder and GPU alone put you over.

I think a big thing to remember is the GPU and a few other things were bought at the LMG store which means presumably that it was at the original MSRP which is why all of the extreme tech upgrades can afford a 3080 since they only have to spend 700 USD of the 5k budget. Though for the welder I am curious if it was 3600 USD or 3600 CAD.

Ok, the OG no longer relevant msrp was 800 not 700, and even then 800 + 3600 + 500 he paid used for the music streamer puts him right at limit with tax and shipping. Plus the tig finger PC upgrades etc. He's easily at 6k with his stated prices.

again no shipping would be included and I don't know if the taxes would be included either.
