BIOS update noob question. Easiest and safest way to update BIOS?

Hello,

i have many many many software configs on my win10 computer and i have an issue (latency audio dropouts) with a RME UFX+ interface, the last thing i did not try yet is to update the BIOS.

Does this require to reinstall windows?

What's the safest and easy way to do it?

I see so many tutorials for this, i'd like some expert up to date opinion.

My motherboard is asus maximus ix hero z270

Thank you very much 🙂

You do not need to reinstall Windows:

-Download the bios you need from the Asus page for your motherboard

(not sure if you need to extract it from an archive file, I suggest making a copy of the archive's contents)

-Import it to a usb flash drive

-Plug the flash drive into the motherboard

-Boot the PC to bios-

-Open EZFlash

-Select your flash drive in the storage device list

-Look for your bios and select the .zip/bios file and proceed with installation, DON'T shut down your PC while it's installing.

If it gets unstable after the update then do the same with an older bios. I think (not sure) that you can also make a copy of your current bios before updating.

Ok thank you!

I read there is chances to corrupt the system by doing it, is there a lot of chances? I really don't want to have to go through reinstalling everything and using my backup drives to restaure...

Such things should be caused by a bug within the bios, but it's not as prevalent as usually told. Just to be sure, what is the exact model name of your motherboard?

Doesn't seem to be lots of problems with this model.. Just go ahead and flash it.
