..not sure how to feel about parasyte

it had some tough love "deal with it" moments in it

some serious inconsistencies

started to fall off somewhere around 14~18 and progressively got sloppier with a notable dip in the earlier episodes where MC becomes a shounen voice of justice and then edgelord. 

 

romance was shoehorned in Adam and Eve style, woman created for the man, and in this story for MC to characterize, dirty utilitarian use, somewhat obtrusive at times.

other characters were woefully weak, only other decent character was parasite mom

 

final fight was a complete asspull and anticlimactic, post-final "fight" was an outlet to preach moral/concept/theme, in case you hadn't already done that in, idk, the passed 23 other episodes

 

it felt like a less gritter version of Tokyo ghoul where they sponged the blood off the floors but didn't bother to remove the carpet, fights were a tiny bit more interesting than TG but overall design is inferior.

 

overall mixed rating, enjoyable/watchable but wouldn't watch again.

I only watched to about 15 or so before I caught up to where it was at the time and never went back to keep watching it. I didn't think it was that bad from what I saw but it sounds like it dropped off after that for you so i cant really comment on that.

I did find future diaries to be a bit of a thrill ride.

Then they'll just charge me for both. They can apparently see what the USPS is doing, so they can probably see that I received the original package. 

 

Never seen it. Wouldn't know. :P

i can't enter the giveaways because my parents are pretty shady if random packages started showing up at my door.

 

That is unless depends on what you're shipping and if I can get to before they get to it. specially if I have to sign off for it.

Like, how Tokyo Ghoul came out, then this anime just like Tokyo Ghoul comes out, but slightly different, so it's still ok.

That happens a lot. It's like every studio in Japan just goes "OK guys, what are we doing unique this season?" and then everyone does that thing, so it's not unique anymore.

Or, it's like they all look for the same types of manga to turn into anime. Like, one hears this studio is doing Tokyo Ghoul, so they look for the nearest clone of it to make that into an anime and ride off of Tokyo Ghouls would-be success.

It's almost like they are checking off boxes on shows to have. I dunno. It's weird.

Hollywood has done that too and does from time to time, but not as consistently as I think anime does it. Olympus Has Fallen -> White House Down for example. 

That one made sense because it was about terrorism which is topical, but still.

it's not a terribly solid comparison but it is the easiest

TG favors ultra-violence and there was definitely some sadism in there

TG grief and drama is centered on and directed at MC, in Parasyte it happens around MC.

TG did most expression directly through MC, Parasyte did it by device (plot event, romance)

In Parasyte people just kinda happen to get hacked apart like "eh, what can do you do lol"

 

I'd probably drop the horror tag from it, nothing about it struck me as remotely horror or psychological

you see MC moping around and feeling le sad but they never bothered to make anyone that dies worth caring about, only the gangbanger was done some justice on that end (got ntr'd too)

 

if that is psychological horror, then so is this

It certainly does seem like the typical "very overrated" anime. To me it had a really dated feel, and one of my biggest pet peeves is when music is used so poorly I can't tell what I'm supposed to be feeling. On top of that, after all the hype I'd heard about the manga I was hoping there would be more to the story than I was getting, so I couldn't maintain interest. It saddens me to hear that it just continues to slide downhill in narrative quality.

I can't really understand the seinen tag either

It just means it's written primarily for males age 18 and up (or so). Some people will say it's lower than that, others higher, but basically it's for adolescents and young adults.

I understand the tag, but it doesn't feel appropriate here. I was implying a shounen tag

A few lense glares, frame drop here and there, and shade in that blood; it would probably be a shounen

felt like another forced tag for the sake of categorization

 

like I said earlier, I went in to this completely blind.

You approach rating in an analytical , critiquing mindset . I do that with books and movies but find I don't with anime . If I like it that's all that matters . That being said , I refrain from rating anime for that reason .

I see. If we're still talking about Parasyte then I'm not sure it's mature enough for a seinen tag either.

 

 

I don't know about a dated feel ,but the manga is from 1988 and they actually changed a lot of scenes and character looks to make them more modern but in my opinion just broke some of the flow the comic had. Doesn't change the rather mediocre ending tho.

See now, that's sad. Not only did they NOT remove the "dated" feeling, but they possibly ruined the story in the process of trying to make it feel less dated.

 

The problem is that people equate liking an anime with quality , so when the rate it they are really saying how much they like it.

I guess that's ok on some level, but if ratings are just based on popularity (probably the shallowest possible approach), then all that will do is encourage anime studios to pump out more stuff that's watered-down for mass appeal. Without anything genuinely good to compare them to, we'll just keep assuming we like everything no matter how bad it gets. At that point we'd better hope our bubble isn't burst or we'll regret wasting all that time when we realize what could have been watching instead :)

well today I have fixed a mouse and a keyboard so i wonder if i have any other pc stuff to fix lol

fixed the monoprice mechanical keyboard that had 2 broken switches I got from @Vitalius and a logitech g402 that had a short in it that I got from @TheProfosist's friend

Alright @wolfgang @Skybane

 

I got the measurements down for the desk. 

 

74 inches in length(58 in length for the raised portion monitors will sit on top of this), 30 inches in width(10.25 in width for the the raised portion on the top portion of the desk against the wall, purpose of this portion is to give monitors some elevation), 42.5 inches in height(8.75 inches in height for the raised portion so the total height of the desk will be 51.25 inches)

 

Now we can change up the bottom portion, I'd like the bottom portion to have drawers for storage of papers, parts tools and whatnot. I really like the idea of the headphone drawer lol.

I'd prefer the PC to be sitting on the top of the desk but I don't know if that'll be possible with those measurements since the NZXT Phantom I have has the length of 24.5 inches, width of 9 inches and height of 22.5 inches. My next build which will be coming up in the summer or late august so the case may not be of the same measurements, maybe there is a way to incorporate the build into the desk? I'm having a hard time picturing a good place to put the PC on the desk(on the top or in the desk) so that it looks aesthetically pleasing. 

Measured the desk I currently have in sketchup. Its 70x35x43 1/8. I dont think the computer will fit up there with all the monitors. Not easily at least. You can squeze it in on the side with only 1 inch extra if the monitors are correct size. I will start on a new design with your new specs. Maybe put a pc in a drawer.

 

You want the raised portion for the monitors to be centered? yes?
