hdmi to vga adapter doesnt work with my pc

Hello,
I bought hdmi to vga adapter to connect old monitor to my pc, but it doesnt work. The weird thing is that it works on both of my laptops.
My specs:
b450 msi gaming plus

gtx 1660ti gigabyte windforce

ryzen 7 2700x

Just asking for sure, are you plugging into the graphics card's HDMI port, not your motherboard port? (so plug in the horizontal port, not the vertical one).

I also checked it with the newer monitor and its still not working.

Is the monitor set to VGA input? And does it say "No Input"?

It says "no video input" but in my nvidia control panel i can see the second monitor. Extend screen doesnt help.image.png.5e53f6b406490b1cbfc401e54dd9c83e.png

Also when i screenshot i can see both monitors.

Which HDMI-to-VGA adapter did you buy?

GTX 1660 Ti might be outputting to the HDMI side of the adapter, and THINKS there is something there...but the monitor sees nothing.

VGA is an ANALOG signal.

HDMI is a DIGITAL signal.

You cannot *simply* convert a digital signal to an analog signal without an ACTIVE adapter.

 

DisplayPort / HDMI / DVI are all digital signals.

They can be changed from one to another using a cheap PASSIVE adapter.

Sounds like a weird issue, considering your laptops do work with the adapter.

Okay, those style kind of adapters should be the right ones.

There should be a chip/circuit in the VGA housing to do the conversion.

I am wondering if there is something wrong with either the adapter or the VGA cable you are using, etc.

I think everything is alright, cause I used it on both of my laptops and it worked.
