Anyway speaking about the PC, overall you really do nail it on the head on what i would do for a stopgap PC. Just grab a less sketchy PSU at 750-850W so you can pretty much pick anything on the horizon. I recommend Adata XPG Pylon lineup, MSI A-GF, and Corsair CX lineup.

Budget (including currency): ~1600

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: AAA titles, light schoolwork

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

My goal with this build is to be able to play AAA games at ~60 fps and 1080p while holding out for a GPU. I am a complete newb at PC building, having been a console gamer all my life. My GPU-less build is below, and I'm looking for advice on whether my gaming goals are feasible on this setup, or if I should just hold out for decent GPU prices or bite the bullet and get an old (overpriced) GPU.

*The warning is for a motherboard BIOS update.

iGPUs do 720p 60fps or 1080p 30fps in AAA games even when you drop all quality to console levels.

You have enough budget room to get a decent graphics card, just do that instead. Supply issue won't go away any time soon.

The PSU's no good tho

If I do just get a GPU, should I ditch the iGPU and go for the 5700X, or would it not matter?

5800X is a bit faster at a higher price. Having an iGPU also give some flexibility so it's your call.

Your link is not the one for sharing, we'll just see the build we have or a blank list.

Others have pretty much nailed it, however if you're going to get a video card from eBay my suggestion is buying a complete system with the card you want in it, and parting out the rest. Might take a week or two of patience, but you'll be able to save quite a bit of cash that way.

I'd ditch the 5700G if you're going to do that.

Other than that and the PSU, build looks good. Though I wouldn't get an MSI motherboard.

The motherboard is perhaps the most baffling part to me in my limited research thus far. Why not MSI? Any recommendations?

Personal preference. I've had nothing but problems with their customer service and warranty departments, both personally and through experiences with friends. The fact I had to contact them at all is also an issue; their boards just aren't all that great. If you want a channel to check out great motherboard shootouts, check out Hardware Unboxed. They usually do great motherboard shootouts.

I usually try and find motherboards with loads of USB ports, which severely limits my choices.
