1. I dislike that term first of all as it seems more like an insult than a title that someone can wear proudly.

2. Shut up, you don't speak for anyone but yourself here on the forum.

 

Dropbox is a piece of software that many people here use often so this is relevant news for many people on the forum. You need to stop making assumptions about what people do and don't care about, if you can't do that then seek life elsewhere.

What’s interesting about bringing Rice onto Dropbox’s board is how normal it feels. Dropbox needs people with international experience to help it at once deal with foreign governments that have blocked its use — China, for example — and as it works to spread a product developed in one country to others that are culturally different.

 

 

Hmm. Well, it makes a little bit of sense, I guess...Can't be a stranger idea than hiring Alicia Keys as a Creative Director for Blackberry...

How is news pertaining to drop box not tech news? I would bet that well over half of the people on this forum have used drop box at one point or another. I use it every day so thanks to the OP for posting.

1. This news pertains to tech. Many people, including myself, use Dropbox. As it is a service made for everyone to store data in the cloud.

2. Yes, a lot of us are geeks. We love technology. I myself love to hear tech news no matter what it is about and where it comes from. I am only speaking for myself, but I know many people who would agree with me.

3. Nicholas isn't acting smart here, you are. You clearly feel the need to argue this even though you are wrong.

 

To put it basically, don't try to speak for the community when no one seems to agree with you. You weren't put here to run the world, but neither was I.

In all seriousness, this is somewhat drawing my attention as a bad thing.

I feel as if Rice is going to mess with the status-quo of Dropbox. I foresee much more stringent file scanning and hash checks against files uploaded by users. The bad part of all of this is that they could essentially build up a portfolio on any single user.

 

Some may say that this might not happen, but knowing what Rice has done in the past decade, I wouldn't be too surprised if more data is mined off of users.
