Show us your custom Windows theme mods!

I went for a basic minimalistic setup, can't say the same about my Chrome tabs and notifications however.

Not much, just a gradient background I made and Classic Shell + RoundedTB for the taskbar. Made a ton of icons for my start menu, only to realize they're absolutely useless in Windows 11. Nice. Used to have a way crazier theme but I've toned it down quite a bit (you can actually see a Windows Vista theme I used in some of my older tutorials).

Have you checked out Haiku by any chance? It's a binary-compatible, spiritual successor to the BeOS.

I was fortunate to be involved with the dev team at a very very early stage. I loved BeOS when it came out, even ran it full time for a number of years.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

I simply use taskbar x to center the taskbar, then I changed the icons

I've done a fair bit of UI modding over time. I've run alternate shells on Windows (multiple versions), messed with themes on Linux and Solaris, and done other UI hacks to make things work 'my way'.

Solaris 10 x86:

JBoxAquaScreenshot.png.41cb79c6ab49c22b39e64628dcf2c3d6.png

Windows 98SE with bbLean shell:

Windows XP with bbLean shell:

But basically these days I just try to have one aesthetic across all of my devices, with a very clean UI setup:

That Matrix style is rad. I miss Xp and 7 UI/desktop, it was peak UI design. What I detest is that Win11 for some reason does not have the ungroup taskbar option. It frustrates me. I had a hack thing that turn off some of the newer features but it broke with an update.

You can move the main features from the taskbar from the center to the left corner? If, so I'll probably be upgrading to Windows 11 after a couple months.

My desktop has Dennis' style "minimalistic" look (as he said in his Intel extreme tech upgrade video 😋) - I used third party apps but still stuck with minimalistic look

> I used Wallpaper Engine to make my desktop background animated (using custom found gif)

> I created my own dock (alongwith animations, outsourced the icons from internet) and used Nexus for that

> Used Big Sur style widgets as it looks amazing and implemented it with Rainmeter

> Used TaskbarX to center only my app icons and tweaked the settings of that animation to look more attractive (unfortunately I forgot to record that in my video 😊) as well as made my taskbar look acrylic

> Made my File explorer background translucent (glassy/aero effect) as I like KDE plasma style.

> I used orange windows theme colour to match my wallpaper but it appears only in the "File" tab of Windows File explorer in my video.

> Edited date and time style in my taskbar to look different

> I reduced the start menu size to go along with minimalist look

I used Windows 10 because Windows 11 reduces the potential to customize especially taskbar

-- I removed news tab and Networkspeed monitor app from taskbar to look minimalistic

Also whilst I'm sure plenty of people here have less-than-favourable opinions on it, both RoundedTB and TranslucentTB are available on the Microsoft Store

I tried the MS Store route, and what do you know? Couldn't do anything because MS Store decided to stop responding to clicks after 10 seconds of being open, any time I open it ever. When it works I have no issues with it, keyword when. I'll check your GitHub haha.

Back in the XP/Vista/7 days I used to mod my shell extensively. I miss that, twas fun. But stock can be nice to with a clean enough desktop.

Wartwood represent here. Windows 10 1903 with Classic Dark Theme. Yes, you heard it right, dark mode classic theme. Along with other stuff:
- Classic Shell (Classic Windows 95 Start Menu + Taskbar skin, although I didn't use classic taskbar for that TaskbarX centered icon)

- NineX rainmeter skin

- Not that much of Windows 95 icon change (only four main icons on Windows settings and my personal folder. If there's anyone here have a tutorial on how to replace windows icons in imageres/ shell32, let me know)

- Windows File Manager, Windows 3.x Program Manger + Apps (Going to add some apps shortcut in there soon)

- Disabled desktop icons and removed some icons in right corner of taskbar to make it a bit minimalistic

- Windows 95 Startup sound
