Is it safe to share GPU serial number when selling GPU on facebook marketplace?

sharmaajajay

Hi, sorry for the noob question.

I am trying to sell my GPU on facebook marketplace and one of the buyers is asking for the GPU serial number so he can verify the model. Is it ok/safe to share the serial number to a potential buyer?

I did the registration with the manufacturer when I bought the card and I also have the email receipt from the store where I bought it(email receipt has the serial number). Do I have anything to worry about?

Thanks in advance,

Ajay

They have other ways to verify the model, like name that's on the sticker label or you showing them a screen shot of gpu-z.

Intel Xeon E5 1650 v3 @ 3.5GHz 6C:12T / CM212 Evo / Asus X99 Deluxe / 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 3000 Trident-Z / Samsung 850 Pro 256GB / Intel 335 240GB / WD Red 2 & 3TB / Antec 850w / RTX 2070 / Win10 Pro x64

HP Envy X360 15: Intel Core i5 8250U @ 1.6GHz 4C:8T / 8GB DDR4 / Intel UHD620 + Nvidia GeForce MX150 4GB / Intel 120GB SSD / Win10 Pro x64

There's not really need for them to ask such. You can't find much by just searching serial numbers unless someone has posted them online. Those are only for manufacturer to verify any RMA claims made. Part number, the one printed on PCB, with date and your first name written on piece of paper is much better indication that the card is real. Short video of PC running benchmark while GPU-Z etc. showing same model great indication that it actually works.
