Monitor Suggestion

Stardyze
Go to solution Solved by SolarNova,

If HDR is that important to you then really the only monitors, that have been tested and reviewed*, worth looking at are the following.

https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/table/59551

Ranging from roughly £600 to £1500.

Most monitors, even those that advertise HDR support, simply cant produce a reasonable HDR experience when compared to good TV's..

*You may find a few monitors not listed here that have been reviewed by other reviewers, rtings is the easiest to list.

I recently started looking for a monitor upgrade for my build, Ideally I would want something that is at least 1440p, 144hz, G-Sync compatible, and HDR. The most important is the HDR since I just really like the vivid pictures that I have seen produced by HDR so that would be the most important. I looked at the three below, but they all said to not really buy it for the HDR. Do any of you have any ideas?

ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ

LG Ultragear 27GL850-B

LG 32" (31.5" Viewable) 32GN650-B

To elaborate on this,

Most users absolutely should not be paying any attention to whether or not a monitor is HDR capable.

HDR 400 doesn't get bright enough and turning HDR on has resulted in a mixed bag for me personally where I'd rather just leave it off, not really sure what the purpose of it is rather than having more to give to the marketing team.

Perhaps HDR 600 would be a bit better but most monitors I remember seeing with that were substantially more expensive, like above £600. And I wouldn't recommend buying a monitor for over £400 given how crap "gaming" monitors are right now unless it really has something you want like a different aspect ratio.

I would avoid that series of Asus and go with the LG as I have 2. They look great but did take some time to get used to. I found myself scratching my head at why the contrast ratio was so low but I've calibrated it to how I want it and it doesn't bother me anymore in the slightest.

Good to know, for that price range I think I’ll be fine with just HDR 400 haha thank you

That’s the one I liked the most out of the three, I will go with that one. Thanks!
