Scammed on eBay

First time using eBay to look for graphics cards, and I find a rtx 2070 for 400cad with the title “image of RTX 2070 EVGA XC FAST SHIPPING” and the stupid me didn’t see the “image” part of that and ordered it. Now here I am with an image of an rtx 2070 and no money.

If you haven't directly contacted ebay you should do that. Nothing us forum users can do

I’ve seen some 400-500$ ones on eBay but this one was the cheapest, but yes this is on me, I got exited and got it on impulse.

People who put up these types of listings claim they're doing it to frustrate miners and scalpers. I suspect that the majority of their victims are just careless randos like OP.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

If the was the case with this guy he wouldn't have taken the OP's money. Might be hard to fight this one, too, because technically the listing was for an image, and OP got an image. Transaction complete. You can claim that it's not worth $400, but value is in the eye of the beholder. There's all kinds of crap on eBay that goes for well more than it's worth just because someone wants it.

He probably thought he was taking the money of some dirty scalper/miner. Or so he'd claim. See, it's okay to defraud them, don't ya know?  

 

Saying that the seller wouldn't have taken OP's money if he had known is assuming a lot more thought has gone into thus lulzy attempt at a vigilante troll justice than the people doing it have ever put in.

I have a plan to get my money back, so the image came all crumpled so I can claim that it came damaged to hopefully get my money back.

Another thing to look at is which Category the item was listed under. If it was listed under computer parts/GPU's, you should have zero problems getting a refund.

 

Stand your ground. If eBay refuses your claim, escalate it. Start a claim with PayPal. If you paid with Credit Card via PayPal, call your credit card company and ask for a chargeback.

What's "legal" doesn't really come into play here. The only way you can test that theory is with a lawsuit, and you'd spend way more money than the $400 you might get back if you won. In this matter, eBay is sole arbiter of what is and is not permissible. Odds are they'll make it right, because it's ultimately no skin off their back, but if they told you to go take a flying leap, that would pretty much be the end of it. Don't kid yourself.

Worst case, even if ebay/paypal refuse to refund OP. They likely could go to their credit card and say they got scammed online and now the seller refuses to refund it. They will get banned from paypal/ebay, though. Which is not a big loss all things considered. 

 

That, and it's not a picture of the graphic card itself. It's a picture of the inside of a computer with a side profile of the GPU.

Say you wanted a high resolution picture of the actual card and card alone, that seller played themselves by sending what is not an accurate product.
