Weird pixel with a dark circle around it?

FYZX
Go to solution Solved by minibois,

It's not a dead pixel, it's a program window that is only one pixel in size. The halo around it is the shadow effect that all windows have.

Try closing all your programs one by one (including those in the taskbar) and it should disappear at some point.

If I remember correctly, for someone in the past this was a window belonging to Steam, so I'd start there.

Hey guys, I noticed this weird spot on my monitor yesterday.

It looks like a dead pixel, and it has a dark circle around it, though on black backgrounds the pixel turns white?

I can't make much sense of it, this spot definitely wasn't there last week.

Also the dark circle looks darker in person, than on the given pictures.

It's rather annoying. 😕

The monitor is a BenQ XL2536, I've had it for ~2,5 years by now.

Does anyone have an idea what it is, and whether I can get it fixed?

That's rather embarrassing... It was the window from steam, just like you said.

Thank you, this thing had me worried.

Actually happened to me once. I also thought i had a dead pixel but somehow it was gone when i moved my mouse over it. So i thought it's some software bug and restarted my PC. Then it was gone. Actually good to know what it was, thanks @minibois.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
