I already have the 10GB NIC, i need x2 slots anyway. Also, i will stick with Intel i9 10900k for the reasons i have already stated, that my friends still have in the game. 10 cores/20 threads is overkill tbh, i also got a brand new i9 10900k for £300 vs the 700/800 Ryzen 5950x, which was going to be my second choice.

Oh ok intel all the way then. As for boards you got a couple good recommendations and know the limits if going z590.

Also, dual channel or quad channel.....

Perfect, thanks for that, Is there a diminishing speed for memory when gaming, or is it worth going 4000 upwards, low latency/timings for extra FPS..

I went with a 4x8 4000/CL18 because it was affordable and fast. I paid $199 for it (Crucial Ballistix Elite 4000)

From what I've read, it starts to matter the more CPU bound you get, and depending on title.

So if you're chasing ultra high fps at lower resolutions (competitive FPS), or playing MMOs, it might matter more.

That said, I think that it's still not a huge amount of benefit going with very fast RAM.

I would personally go with a 3600, 4000, or 4400 kit of dual channel, dual rank memory (or 4x single rank).

FYI, on my Z590 AORUS MASTER, I switched my 11th Gen Intel Core i7-11700K for 10th Gen Intel Core i7-10900k due to my need for more productivity/core-based performance. While the machine is definitely running higher MHz (5500MHz versus 5200MHz) here are a list of issues:

I've moved the SSD to the second slot which allowed for boot, however my SATA HDDs are now not showing up

I've only been able to overclock the RAM to 3600 MHz instead of 4000 MHz I got running the 11700k

Some file handling bugs like unzipping files not working.

I'm definitely returning the 10900K and going to go back to 11700k before switching to Ryzen 7950X with x670e motherboard.

I do not recommend 10900K with Z590, at least the AORUS Master.
