[HELP] How to get a display out using motherboard HDMI port with AMD Ryzen 3700x

Hello.. My computer is Ryzen 7 3700x , MSI MPG X570 gaming plus motherboard with PNY GTX 1660 super.  my GPU only has 1 HDMI ,1 DVI-D port and one Display port.  i have connected a monitor to my HDMI port. but i have another VGA monitor as well. and I have a HDMI male to VGA female converter as well. but since my GOU doesn't have any more HDMI outs, is there anyway to get a display out using the motherboard HDMI port? this Ryzen processor doesn't have integrated graphics. so is there a way to connect my other monitor my motherboard HDMI port.. Please help..   Thanks you.

You can't. The 3700X doesn't have an iGPU. The mobo display out can only be driven via an IGPU.

You cant get any display output from your onboard display connectors without a iGPU.

No, the CPU doesn't have on board graphics. 

 

You can adapt dvi or dp to HDMI though and go from there

Will one of these Display port to VGA adapters work? ( I don't know if digital signal that comes out of Display port can be converted into analog VGA using on of these adapters? ) Thanks

Yes it will work, if not return it.

I suggest getting a DP to HDMI, then a HDMI to VGA.

As you will more likely to buy a DP or HDMI monitor in the future.

hmm yeah. i guess that s the way to go..  i already have a 75hz IPS full HD monitor and i have plugged that into the HDMI port. i was afraid to use that monitor with a DP to HDMI adapter thinking it might hurt the image quality or refresh rate because of the adapter.

DP to HDMI works without conversion, unlike DP/HDMI to VGA which translate the digital signal to analog.

Oh ok thank you.. I ll try that.. it s also easier to find DP to HDMI adapters rather than DP to VGA

Yeah that was my case, DP to VGA is very expensive in my place.

I can get both adapter cheaper, fortunately it worked.

Is the cable is says it is active, yes.

 

Some DP to VGA adaptors are passive; they basically work as DVI-I but with a different connector. Since your GPU does not support analogue video out, those passive cables won't work.
